  1. It's Bl*$$dy fantastic ! :rsmile: I'll keep an eye out - probably not as expensive to obtain as some other OOP Mosaics.
  2. Man, I gotta say that the original, non-cropped photo is really nice - love the trees. The music I never cared for, to be honest, though Don Cherry is among my favorite artists.
  3. It ended at $1,585. It's a Classic Records re-issue, with the faux deep-groove and addresses. Except, of course the obvious 'Classic Records under licence etc.' line at the bottom of the back cover. http://cgi.ebay.com/VG-RARE-Lee-Morgan-Ind...1QQcmdZViewItem check out the feedback from buyer. really nuts. i wonder if seller is going to get away with it. I think yes. The auction ended Feb. 8, and the positive feedback was posted Feb. 10, for a seller who doesn't accept paypal, only checks and money orders. This seems rather suspicious. Does the buyer live next door to the seller? Seller's in Palm Springs and buyer's in Austria... that's some fast shipping!
  4. This is really great. I know little about Ferguson and own none of his recordings, but this has got me curious about that Roulette set that Mosaic put out some time ago.
  5. He also took it there on the Hank Bagby LP, so who knows...
  6. But we're not talking about doublers and triplers, right? But those who switch from one to another. Prince Lasha was known for alto and clarinet (as well as flute) but now plays baritone more often. His sound on that horn is really beautiful. Ornette played tenor a lot in R&B and Chitlin-circuit bands, though didn't record on it other than the Atlantic session Ornette on Tenor. Jackie McLean, iirc, started on tenor before switching to alto in his youth. Didn't Wayne Shorter start on alto?
  7. Will be getting this for review, it looks like, so I'll report. I mean, I guess if you like Brotzmann you know what you're getting into!
  8. Yeah, that is a good one. Haven't heard it in ages. I have it on LT vinyl somewhere, can't get to it right now.
  9. I miss your Dizzy Reece avatar.
  10. Don't know how Ra felt, but Ronnie did leave the band shortly thereafter I think. Gilmore took sideman gigs but always came back to the fold, right? Daaoud Haroom, trombone Joe Ferguson, sax/fl Jimmy Vass, sax Monty Waters, sax/fl George Avaloz, conga Art Lewis, drums Ronnie Boykins, b/sousaphone all play percussion instruments as well. There's a small-group Ra vibe to the proceedings, I guess, and very easy on the ears. I haven't listened to it in a few years, though. If my cat wasn't named Silva, I woulda named him Daaoud Haroom.
  11. I've thought about Kirk w/r/t AEC before also.
  12. I could never get in touch with Ms. Roling, so there's certainly a lot of holes to be filled... I know at least one (the Marion Brown) was done from Guy Kopelowicz' (our long-lost brownie) photograph, and he was never paid for the use of the material!
  13. Really wish I had some bread to spend on those Transparency sets... it's depressing me!
  14. Yeah, my guess is that the writer's a college-age kid or around that at least. Doesn't seem too knowledgeable, but enthusiasm is good enough for "regular folks press."
  15. Some people use the term "skip" to refer to a repeated click.
  16. That is so sad. You should've donated to the public library!
  17. I have some recordings from a Paris concert in '64 that are really wonderful. I assume that the bootleg is really good...
  18. Well, I'll take those Mingus 78s and the Paul Bley one too.
  19. I'm sure it's good... but I might have enough Brotzmann to work through now. Granted, most of the duo & small-group stuff is good, but those last few Tentet sides were pretty underwhelming.
  20. Chaney may not have a turntable. But otherwise, I think this sort of thing is better left to PMs rather than in the open (yes, I've made that mistake as well).
  21. I doubt laypeople really know much about what goes into playing the saxophone. Science isn't exactly an academic journal, y'know.
