  1. In my experience, the pressings aren't as good, fwiw.
  2. Missed it, will have to seek it out. Wasn't Arthur kinda on the skids a bit lately, or is that just my mind? Bishop ain't boring to say the least (neither is Coley, even if he seems sometimes like he just puked onto the page, it's still interesting to read him at his most half-baked, if I'm reading right into what you're saying).
  3. I thought Chadbourne's writeups/send-ups of Paul Bley on AMG were pretty funny, even if (or maybe especially because) I did enjoy the records he was bashing.
  4. Stockhausen - Kontakte (Tenney/Winant) - (Ecstatic Peace!)
  5. Meyer used to write for the Big Takeover, right? And of course Magnet, but I can't remember much before those. The new Rick Bishop on (ulp!) Drag City is okay, but Salvador Kali was such an early high water mark in his career that... oh, I dunno, forget it. C "no comment" T
  6. A writeup on Allen Lowe would be interesting, seriously.
  7. I'd buy it for the rust alone... pretty cool-looking if you ask me!
  8. I get paid at the end of the week and will donate then...
  9. Jaki Byard - Parisian Solos - (Futura 'Swing,' Musica cover)
  10. Tchicai is black; he's of Danish & Congolese heritage. He's of Danish & Congolese heritage, so that makes him black? - whatever that might mean. Most people would see me as white, but I wonder what would show up if I had my DNA tested for a genetic profile? Perhaps if everyone everywhere had a genetic profile test done it might start a lot of folks thinking, and perhaps change some thinking. Not intended to be racist... jeez.
  11. Yeah, welcome Pete. I sent the Sondheim off to its subject and got a few corrections back so it'll go through one more personal pass and then off to you. Do stick around, as even if the trash-talk runs high, it's a fun place to hang out. And tho Clem and I have had our fair share of differences in the past, he's one of my favorites around here.
  12. Tchicai is black; he's of Danish & Congolese heritage. Mike Osborne is another worth mentioning; also Kris Wanders, Cel Overberghe, and Piet Noordrijk!
  13. He's great on the Zitro LP. I believe he lived in Japan for a time in the '70s; recall seeing his name on a couple of oddball Denon free jazz records.
  14. Indeed. Happy Birthday!
  15. Vinko Globokar / New Phonic Art - 'Drama' / 'Correspondences' - (BASF Harmonia Mundi orig)
  16. I would take even a mediocre rapper like Brother Ali over that smooth-jazz shit...
  17. After last night, I don't really want to think about it...
  18. Mudhoney - Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge - (Sub Pop, wax is colored like somebody threw up red wine)
  19. Sunny Murray - Quintet - (ESP stereo orig) w/ Jack Graham, Byard Lancaster, Alan Silva and Jacques Coursil Among my earliest free jazz vinyl purchases from my undergraduate days, still going strong (tho it hasn't been THAT long).
  20. Ut - Griller - (Blast First! orig, not a Toshiba) Probably, next to SY, my favorite post-no wave band.
  21. Our resident spammer, or one of them, always talking about Souza.
  22. It's fine, I like it though I had to get a stretched out belt to make it track properly. The original one was too tight and interfered with playback.
  23. George Russell - Stratusphunk - (Riverside mono orig) w/ Al Kiger, Dave Baker, Dave Young, Chuck Israels and Joe Hunt.
