  1. Ha ha - that'd be me. Fair enuf. I dislike Nirvana and am indifferent to Young, so am no expert or nuthin'. Just making a point. Yr point being... what? It's like my friend who said once that the Jesus Lizard are no Arthur Doyle. I was like whuh?
  2. Mal Waldron - Number Nineteen - (Freedom/Trio Japan orig) great funky '70s side w/ Martin Van Duynhoven (d) and Dick Van Der Capellen (b)
  3. And I'll add that nobody here is really critiquing the critics the way that it could be done in an "academic" sense. I've not the time nor the wherwithal to do it here, but hey, if somebody wants to step up to the plate...
  4. Who the hell is comparing Neil Young with Nirvana? I'm sorry, but that's a pretty wack comparison. Kleenex > Nirvana Mudhoney > Nirvana Swell Maps > Nirvana Sonic Youth > Nirvana Screaming Trees > Nirvana Green River > Mudhoney , and so on.
  5. Monk & Newk - Work - (Prestige OJC reissue) In honor of one man's birthday and one's birthday not so long past...
  6. These days, they are among the scarcer of Ogun titles on LP. I would love to get this set.
  7. "Black Is The Color of my True Love's Hair"...
  8. Wish I could be there!
  9. Thanks - sounds just up my street. I like the Vertigo more; it's different, more funky and a bit wild - it's called Dedicated to You, But You Weren't Listening (from a tune written by Hugh Hopper). I'll look out for that one too - another that has been recently reissued on vinyl I think. Saw Keith at Bath a year or so ago in a solo piano performance (plus assorted bricks and chimes etc.). That was wild ! Wilder still is that he named (or was in) a group called "Ovary Lodge."
  10. I've never fucking seen that... cool.
  11. And was further ripped off itself by Palace, which I find extremely ironic... Not being an expert in the field, I still dig all prior Byrds records and I keep a nice mono copy around for occasional dusting off (i.e., when trying to impress an Austin lady and the Marzette Watts LPs just won't do)...
  12. It may not be now, but I think we here on the board were probably among the first to chime in. I suspect that at least a few of us should get it.
  13. I'll spin the Blue Notes later today, I think. Whilst waiting for the Riverside box to arrive, naturally! Happy Birthday Mr. Monk!
  14. Thanks - sounds just up my street. I like the Vertigo more; it's different, more funky and a bit wild - it's called Dedicated to You, But You Weren't Listening (from a tune written by Hugh Hopper).
  15. It's a good record - of course "early" and some of the ideas aren't totally jelled. Kind of like a mid-quality Graham Collier record, maybe?
  16. Keith Tippett - You are Here I am There - (Polydor Japanese issue) w/ Elton Dean, Nick Evans, Marc Charig, Jeff Clyne and Alan Jackson
  17. Jack Bruce - Songs For A Tailor - (Atco pressing) w/ Harry Beckett, Henry Lowther, John Mumford, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Art Themen, Jon Hiseman, Chris Spedding, and "L'Angelo Mysterioso..."
  18. Will you be having a DaimlerChrysler with that?
  19. Val Stoecklein - Grey Life - (Dot/Paramount orig) Solid singer-songwriter LP from the former leader of the Blue Things. Jayhawk pride!
  20. Neil Young - Decade - (Reprise Teldec German pressing) LP one...
  21. Yeah, that's a good one. Think I got my vinyl of that for around $5!
  22. Hope Skid's threads don't have "Skid marks!"
  23. Didn't they put out an Ornette record also?
