  1. Interesting - I have that UK issue in a blue/white Liberty. A short-lived phenomenon. Didn’t realise they were on Mortimer St.
  2. RIP - yet more sad news.
  3. Sorry to hear this, that is very sad. Good long and productive life though. I have good memories of seeing him leading an octet of his own arrangements though. Great times - May he RIP.
  4. The ‘Cedar’ has arrived - it’s actually in stereo in the Transatlantic version but I have no problems with the soundstage or the clarity of this pressing. Very happy with it ! Decent weight of vinyl and what looks to be good vinyl quality. Transatlantics were marketed also in Scandinavia so maybe there are spare copies to be found in Stockholm?
  5. Yes, his daughter wrote quite an interesting book about him. That young woman you mention might have been one of his wives or partners - young French lady I think. Must check the aforementioned book. That old footage of Archer St with Ronnie and Pete King shows at least one of them in a flash car.
  6. Ronnie Scott was in one of Claes’ bands and he was always a motor enthusiast with flash cars. His business partner Pete King even more so - a very competent racer.
  7. Early British Jazz tenor star Buddy Featherstonhaugh was also an early Grand Prix winner ! There’s a really excellent recent essay on him by Richard Williams : https://thebluemoment.com/ I’ve a Japanese CD of that one - one of the weirdest things ever committed to disk !
  8. Excellent Don Weller fronted jazz/rock band from the 1970s.
  9. That Thad & Mel Quartet is good value !
  10. It’s an absolute corker ! Today - CDs 5, 6 and 7. Wonderful orchestra, in great sound. Major kudos to Malcolm Addey. Maynard disk 4 ‘Doin’ The Madison’ single is a hoot. HIT IT !
  11. Against all current trends, I order 3 obscure LPs from ‘The River’ and they arrived today. Overnight service, Sunday delivery. Outstanding !
  12. Tonight I have Bill Evans ‘Time Remembered’, the RRK documentary and the Milford Graves bio lined up as part of my cheapo Amazon Prime trial week. Good value.
  13. CDs 4 and 5. Don Ellis and Slide Hampton on board.
  14. Birthday Wishes to Mr Redd !
  15. Yes, already mentioned that this was a mid 1960s reissue.
  16. Japanese series reissue
  17. Fontana, stereo. Superb and a bit of a lost classic. Obviously where Elton John got his look from..
  18. I completely missed that one. Definite potential perhaps for a Mosaic Blue Note ‘Somethin’ Else’ set by the likes of Adams, Pullen, Ralph Peterson etc.
  19. I have a UK Transatlantic of this one from the 1960s with exactly the same cover.
  20. Jazz Journal Magazine has a review of a recent gig by the 3 Brubeck brothers at Dorking, UK - maybe that’s where they caught it?
  21. Ah - forgot about that. Maybe there is a case now but for a Mosaic with sonic enhancements?
