    I use a very occasional dab of the Audio Technica liquid on my stylus. Extremely sparingly and making sure that it doesn’t spread up the cantilever. For normal cleaning it is the Dynavector brush and the green ‘sand paper’.

    I use L’Art du Son diluted per their instructions in distilled water on a VPI 16.5. Gives good results, no need for drying time.

    I remember the mania of the annual Canadian tax returns, big rushes to get RRSPs etc. Don’t miss it ! Over here, the PAYE system means no annual filing for most permie employees.

    Very sad news - I saw him several times with Hilton Ruiz, including that ‘Live in Birdland’ live recording. A fine and enthusiastic musician - RIP.

    Rearward delivered on this reissue, that is for sure. The CD is so good that I resisted the 180g vinyl !

    I picked up the ‘Realization’ LP on Capricorn as a 50p cutout in its UK version around 1976. Been a fan of it ever since !

    Interesting fact - Top Rank actually did a UK release of JR Monterose ‘The Message’. Mythically rare.

    A fine old Victorian venue. More regularly used for classical concerts, not aware of any other jazz recordings done there.

    Always a pleasure to see in films and on TV - she had class. A life well lived - RIP.

    Both great venues, of course. I have the feeling that that other Mole LP was recorded in Bradford at St George’s Hall but will have to check. I saw that band same tour at Ronnie Scotts.

    On Mole Jazz’s label - 2nd LP from the Festival Hall. They also put out a 1983 LP from the ‘British Orchestra’ that I don’t recall seeing on CD.
