  1. Great minds think alike. Incredible sunny weather so - ideal day for perusing racks of jazz indoors..
  2. Amongst a bundle I picked up this afternoon - nice 180g reissues. Nothing profound but satisfyingly greasy.
  3. Congrats - hope it’s good !
  4. A major comeback for JJ at time of release. Great concert too.
  5. An underestimated gem which I need to dig out ! One of the victim sets of the infamous Mosaic instant cull of sets, I recall.. CD2 - flogging this one to death (rightly so)
  6. Damed flamin’ awesome ! Never even realised they were on at Mezzrow so missed the streaming.
  7. ‘We Want Miles’ has great vitality as a live release I find, sort of like ‘Agharta’. Teo Macero did a good job once more. Al Foster’s drumming and the way it is captured in the recording are big plusses as well.
  8. Remember putting in an Amstrad radio/cassette player to the old Ford back in the day. It even had FM stereo. The height of sophistication back then (along with the vinyl roof !) I transferred my Pathe Marconi Blue Notes onto cassette for use in that contraption.
  9. Mosaic Select CD3
  10. Blast from the past - remember seeing/hearing Stowell in a restaurant over 20 years ago. Not sure who was on bass, might have been Friesen.
  11. My hunch is that one of the back issues of the old ‘Jazz Monthly’ or ‘Jazz Journal’ has an interview with him.
  12. World Record Club
  13. No - I did see the larger group you mention but in N. America. The more recent, also over the pond, was just Bley/Swallow. Having said that, I have a feeling that I’ve also seen them with Sheppard, so that might have been more recent and over here.
  14. US ECM. ‘OK’ pressing quality, no better. In anticipation of the Bley/Swallow UK tour with Andy Sheppard next month. 25 years since I last saw them.
  15. The very first CD box set I ever bought - a hefty $80-90 Cdn at the time as well.
  16. Another spin of this gem..
  17. The only thing that would stop me going berserk in that place is the current weakness of our £ !
  18. Yep - I’ve got a couple of them, a Jaki Byard and a Pat Martino. At least a match for the US issues.
  19. Early Gilles Peterson compilation from BN UK. Sounds surprisingly good !
  20. Didn’t Champion Jack live in Halifax? Pee Wee Ellis (lives in Somerset) Jean Toussaint Joan Viskant
