  1. And budget label DJM in the UK..
  2. Will dig out the LP set of that one this weekend !
  3. Spinning this until we get a power cut, like much of the rest of the country
  4. Looks like its listed now. I would love to have gone for Mark’s direct offer but the combination of shipping and taxes would likely more than negate the discount.
  5. Sounds diabolical ! Raining here but refreshing high teens. Hints of Autumn?
  6. Yeah, I’ll end up behaving like a Hoffmanite and go for both formats of this set. On the plus side, it will mean that I could put all 12 CDs on repeat playback in the car on the way to work..
  7. Useful for sampling but not really a solution - at least for me.
  8. Those alternate takes on the CD set sound indispensable ! This will be an expensive September.
  9. Sad news - RIP. I remember hearing a lot of his stuff on the radio back in the 70s and 80s and have the feeling I saw him live - most likely one of those NYC Summer open air concerts in the 1990s, Lincoln Center I think. ’Soprano Summit’ - yes, they were very popular here, back in the day. Remember them touring with his wife, vocalist ‘Pug’ Horton.
  10. No flutter that I can hear on ‘Etcetera’ from UK ‘The Jazz File’ 1981 issue. From memory I think the ‘Wally’ is a bit bigger sounding but this issue sounds more than OK to me. Sounds like it might be a tape wear issue for the Tone Poet. I am finding with the LT series that a wash in the RCM is very beneficial. Great album - remember being blown away when it originally came out.
  11. Labelled on the back as a Pathe Marconi import from UK
  12. Kenny Dorham ‘Matador’ (King)
  13. That Gil Evans must be the UK World Record Club issue.
  14. LT series goodness. $6.99 back in the day
  15. I’m quite happy to pass on this series - a mix of original LPs, King/Toshiba reissues and Music Matters 45s will suffice ad infinitum. Not to mention ‘slumming it’ on CDs Agree re: the LT series. Quite acceptable sonics.
  16. Absolutely ! Also sonically really excellent, considering it is over 20 years old now.
  17. That 2LP reissue for Thad/Mel includes material from the Solid State albums with Ruth Brown and Joe Williams which wasn’t included in the Mosaic.
  18. Now onto CD7 - what a great set.
  19. It’s a shame that the LP set doesn’t include the bonus single and all those alternates. The sonics should be good though.
  20. CD8 - the ‘Black Narcissus’ session
  21. Ridiculous - for that sort of price they must be renting a cab for individual delivery over the water. Not sure about Amazon etc. The only physical shop I have seen actually advertising this set is Dusty Groove and they are showing CD only for future order.
  22. I got the 10% by accessing the udiscovermusic store link via the Facebook Messenger app. With the first order, udiscovermusic give you 10% off via a discount code. Good luck ! Is that 135 Euro for shipping just to the EU? Can’t be right, surely. The UK order worked out at about £6 for courier delivery, which seemed reasonable to me.
