  1. Somehow ‘Solar Plexus’, Roots’ and ‘Under the Sun’ have always eluded me, have the rest on Vertigo vinyl though, together with many of the BGOs. A new CD remastering will be great and will also look forward to the Sid Smith essay booklet. I suspect that Ian Carr would have been amazed at the recent tsunami of releases put out under his name.
  2. Jazzman now listing the individual vinyl LPs coming up at £18.99, very fair price. We are living in an age of veritable cornucopia of Rendell/Carr !
  3. I think I’ve got everything on this, including the Ilori. Might be a fun collection to have on the vinyl though.
  4. Tempting upgrade on the BGOs (in fact I will definitely get it as I am missing some of them). Too bad that there is no word on there of a vinyl version a la Jazzman. I am finding that some of the star ratings on the reviews are debatable although I agree with quite a few of them. Formatting is a bit all over the place but it is an amiable read, covering many of the key artists and albums.
  5. Just received a copy of this interesting book. Sort of a compilation of personal reviews of key albums during the period under discussion.
  6. Sad news, RIP. Just listening to his Kirk and Brown boxes recently. Exemplars at their time of release and still go-to sets.
  7. Cindy was invariably extremely prompt and helpful with queries - and was a dab hand at inking the numbers in the booklets too !
  8. NY USA mono? That version sounds fabulous.
  9. BN Lexington 10”
  10. The ‘Basra’ sounds pretty good on the ‘Wally’ imprint. I have a stereo orig. NY pressing of that title and will have to cross-check. Some good titles put out in the Wallys - Bobby Hutcherson ‘Patterns’ and Kenny Dorham ‘Whistle Stop’ very effectively cover the requirements for me.
  11. Sadly, didn’t catch him play the Ronnies gig that Summer but did catch him at Capital Jazz Fest which was I think, July 1980. Relocated right after the Ally Pally burnt down ! I have the feeling that Pepper played the Charlie Parker 25th Anniversary tribute I saw right after the Ronnies season. He brought the house down with his solo feature. Must get that ‘Complete Mole’ set (vinyl would be nice).
  12. Yes, Wally Traugott signed in the runout ‘Wally’. These US issues came out at the same time as the Conn CD series.
  13. 90s ‘Wally’ issue.
  14. Rearward/schema 180g reissue
  15. Snowed in !
