  1. - 6C driving past Stonehenge this morning. Snowstorm coming in tonight.
  2. One of those that was yanked in the ‘night of the long knives’. Managed to find it in London Oxford St HMV when they still had a specialist jazz dept. (sigh). Same here - you only rarely come across them over here, most copies being in the US and shipping of these behemoths long since prohibitive.
  3. A Bobby Hutcherson connection perhaps? - via the Gerald Wilson Orchestra.
  4. UK Columbia Lansdowne, stereo
  5. Funilly enough, I was just checking out my Tina Brooks LP set this afternoon and there was a flyer and envelope from Mosaic in there giving advance notice of Commodore Vol 1 new release. I have the first 2 sets but a time machine to post in an order for Vol 3 would be nice.
  6. Just Commodore Vol 3. No rush.
  7. Really? The one I’ve just received was addressed from ‘Michael and Scott’. By honourable tradition. Don’t hesitate with this set..
  8. Another excellent mastering, helped by a brilliant Wally Heider recording !
  9. Indeed - I was just thinking that. Bought this in the 90s and it has withstood the test of time nicely, unlike some CDs of that vintage.
  10. Thoroughly enjoyable !
  11. I guess none of the copies made it across the Atlantic - can’t recall seeing it at the usual London Beehive outlets ( Mole, Ray’s etc.).
  12. Wow, never saw that one before. I guess all of the tracks are in the Mosaic box ?
  13. 2CD set, my favourite release of the year so far. Beautifully mastered by the late Jon Hiseman. Where else can you hear (a youthful) Alan Barnes with the Westbrooks?
  14. Very sad news - he certainly left his mark and was open to jazz. RIP.
  15. Happy Birthday !
  16. along with Chef !
  17. Good old Henri Renaud ! I still have an LP set of that Henderson too.
  18. That Larry Willis CD is excellent !
