  1. Thanks - relieved to hear that !
  2. Phil Woods/Donald Byrd 'The Young Bloods' (Esquire, mono)
  3. Flamin 'ell - I'm flying into that stuff ! Just hope it peters out by the following weekend..
  4. It's "in the family." Thanks for your sentiments ! Hope you got some nice ones from that list, Clunky. I just wish that the Esquires were easier to find. From what I gather, Carlo Krahmer and Peter Newbrook pressed them in very small runs/batches and some of the titles must have only got 1-2 batches at most.
  5. All the Very Best !
  6. I was tempted by a copy if this on Alan's specials list but in the end I just couldn't justify the cost. My K2 disc will have to suffice. Great session Yes, this is indeed the one from 'the list' and I was suprised that Alan still had it when I asked. I'm a huge fan of Esquires and this only comes up rarely so went for it. Much, much better condition than the sleeve pic shown !
  7. Hey guys, stop damn-well buying up all the 'Boom Jackie' CDs in Japan before I get to call in on HMV in a week or two.. I wonder if Dutton Vocalion might eventually release it? Still hope I guess...

'Auf Wiedersehen' is damn good - was listening to this recently. Really nice later trio date and very well recorded. The Japanese CD re-issue was very well done. John Taylor {'Decipher') George Shearing Monty Alexander
  9. George Wallington 'New York Scene' (Esquire, mono).

Wish I could find a copy of the 'Orgasm' LP in Woolworth's, as the book states !

Yep, those are the ones. Wasn't even aware of those later issues !
  12. I remember hearing it via CBC Radio Canada. On the Calgary Trail..

Those 2CD Mangelsdorff German box sets ('Three Originals') were the ones to go for. Came and went in a jiff !
  14. Booker Ervin 'The Freedom Book' (Prestige Bergenfield DG mono) Stanley Turrentine 'Look Out !' (BN 47W63rd DG mono)
  15. Horatio Nelson Hooray Henry Boris
  16. John Wyndham Windy Miller Hugh, Pugh...
  17. That TOTP2 show after the documentary was quite entertaining. Not that I'm a great fan but amazing just how many hits they have had over the years.
  18. Hmmm - I like 'em.. A bit 'rough and ready' but on those terms well worth hearing.
  19. Really? Darn. At one time I had a perfect vinyl copy of "decipher" but when I got the Japanese CD I sold the vinyl in tight times..I had found the record for $25 and could not resist the $200 profit alluring me at the time Anyway this was years ago so I'd love to hear how the vinyl sounds on my improved turntable system.. I was amazed too. It's not even close ! $25 is an amazing price for this scarce LP (even over here), particularly one in good nick.
  20. I thought they served these all the time up Camden High Street !

Always wanted a copy of that Roland Kovac in vinyl. Great cover !
  22. John Taylor 'Decipher' (MPS/BASF stereo) Good as the Japanese CD re-issue sounds, the original LP categorically trounces it ! Freddie Hubbard 'Night of the Cookers Vol 2' (BN Liberty UA/stereo) Today's nice find. I needed Vol 2 and as this one was in immaculate nick and had the 'Van Gelder' in the runout, it was a no-brainer..
  23. That's great news Roger ! Is this the performance where Nucleus won the jazz equivalent of 'Jeux sans Frontiers' - I recall reading that they had won the top band prize at Montreux one year. 2LPs as well - fantastic.
