  4. That TOTP2 show after the documentary was quite entertaining. Not that I'm a great fan but amazing just how many hits they have had over the years.
  5. Hmmm - I like 'em.. A bit 'rough and ready' but on those terms well worth hearing.
  6. Really? Darn. At one time I had a perfect vinyl copy of "decipher" but when I got the Japanese CD I sold the vinyl in tight times..I had found the record for $25 and could not resist the $200 profit alluring me at the time Anyway this was years ago so I'd love to hear how the vinyl sounds on my improved turntable system.. I was amazed too. It's not even close ! $25 is an amazing price for this scarce LP (even over here), particularly one in good nick.
  7. I thought they served these all the time up Camden High Street !

    MPS

Always wanted a copy of that Roland Kovac in vinyl. Great cover !
  9. John Taylor 'Decipher' (MPS/BASF stereo) Good as the Japanese CD re-issue sounds, the original LP categorically trounces it ! Freddie Hubbard 'Night of the Cookers Vol 2' (BN Liberty UA/stereo) Today's nice find. I needed Vol 2 and as this one was in immaculate nick and had the 'Van Gelder' in the runout, it was a no-brainer..
  10. That's great news Roger ! Is this the performance where Nucleus won the jazz equivalent of 'Jeux sans Frontiers' - I recall reading that they had won the top band prize at Montreux one year. 2LPs as well - fantastic.
  11. Late congrats !
  12. Caught her quite a lot at gigs over here in the early 2000s, in particularly those with the London-based F-IRE Collective. In addition to excellent tenor and soprano, she can sing as well. Have been digging that early 'Forensic' CD again this week - thoufthfull and varied programme of music.
  13. Looks like an in-store visit to HMV Tokyo will be on the agenda - in between the Disk Unions !
  14. A valued member of our community - RIP.
  15. Pray tell....... The Barney Wilen? I wish , the Wilen was way too rich for me. Some nice Esquires in that list. And Blue Notes.
  16. Pray tell....... The Barney Wilen?
  17. A number of Lansdownes of that vintage came out on that imprint. 'Cosmic Eye', Arman Ratip 'Spy From Istambul', Neil Ardley etc.
  18. I've got a copy of the Danish Debut as well. Time for a spin ! Clunky - did you see Alan's recent 'Special' list and pick up anything from it? That's a great deal on an elusive recording - at least it is over here in its original form. Wasn't that the one that came out on Regal Zonophone? Never actually seen one 'in the raw'.
  19. That 'Vogue Jazz Doubles' series was a a good one. Have quite a few of them. They also came out with a great 3LP 'Complete Paris Collection' by Clifford Brown.
  20. Excellent article ! Like the bit about the carton of milk being poured on 'patrons'.
  21. It may well be typical these days. Last time I was at the club was over 10 years ago now and it was before they did the refurbishments, so still the 'original' place, so to speak. It's gone up-market these days and I'm sure that the food will be better. The David Redfern prints (or many of them) are still up on the walls I believe and it would be worth a perusal while you are there. Some real classics... have a great trip.
  22. Of course ! 'Boom-Jackie' is on the top of my list for the forthcoming Disk Union exped. Maybe they will have a vinyl in stock? - hope so.
  23. Interesting... in a museum? Donald Trump's collection?
  24. This looks different from the recent crowd funded documentary. With the 93 min. of concert footage I will get this when the price is right. At the '80th' concert in London last year they were filming the proceedings - for use in a new documentary I think (although I was under the impression it might be a BBC4 thing). They had a showing of the 'Language of the Unknown' before the performance.
  25. Classic Records 200g reissue, stereo
