  2. Peter Ind Billy Bauer Sal Mosca
  3. Grant Green 'Sunday Mornin'' (Toshiba, stereo)
  4. Don't think it's the same recording. Seems I had both back in the day. There's Touching and Blood with the Roling cover, and a Jazz Life pressing of Blood which has the same catalog number/label. Definitely the same music. Then there's a Polydor Blood which is different music and yet another jacket. The Polydor Blood is generally refered as 'Paul Bley in Haarlem' and looks like this: my copy of Touching looks like this Ahh - WH Smiths for 69p for a Fontana. Those were the days. I wonder if they did any Tubby Hayes's and Ric Colbecks at that price? Now spinning - Stan Tracey Trio 'Perspectives' (Columbia Lansdowne Series, stereo)
  5. John McLaughlin Derek Bailey Tony Oxley
  6. CD3 on today with about 4 replays. That one absolutely smokes !
  7. Yes. I'm sure there's a thread where JSngry posted some recollections of meeting him.
  8. 'Ray Warleigh's First Album' (Philips, stereo) Terry Smith 'Fall Out' (Philips, stereo)
  9. I have the 3 volumes of that. I'd forgotten that Miles was on there. Not the greatest of fidelity on those LPs - a "curate's egg".
  10. Good to hear. Germany gets lots of important things right ! Is that in addition to basic state pension?
  11. Hopefully you didn't batten down your deck and LPs per the earthquake predictor's recommendations, porcy? Now spinning - Paul Moer Trio 'The Contemporary Jazz Classics Of' (Japanese Del-Fi, mono) and Dick Grove Orchestra 'Little Bird Suite' (Pacific Jazz, mono)
  12. Record Rater Doug Rader Panty Raider Don Rader Don Menza Don Piestrup
  13. Very sad to hear this. I think the last time I saw him was in the trumpet section of Gerald Wilson's Orchestra. There was some comment made at the time regarding the combined ages of Gerald, Snooky and Jack Nimitz (I think). RIP Snooky - at least he had a good long 'innings' and what a career.
  14. Nigel Planer Neil Vivian
  15. Doesn't seem to mention citizenship so on the basis of the good old anglo-saxon principle of 'if it aint specifically mentioned it's not an issue' should be OK, hopefully.
  16. I remember being present in the house when they recorded Louis Bellson Explosion. Might have been there when George Coleman's Quartet was recorded too ! (was there that particular week). Quite a few of those Ronnie Scott recordings came out on the Pye label over here (including the Bellson and Coleman).
  17. Yes, with Miles Davis's ex, Frances, as the greeter. Had a fine little conversation with her last time. Cool ! When I watch these clips I expect to see a big Tower Records sign appear on the right with a wooden shack drawing the jazz punters in like a black hole and a couple of free car parks to make things easy. Wrong era and now long gone I guess but nevertheless - alas !
  18. ( I have that LP !) Morgan Freeman Freeman, Hardy & Willis Fluff Freeman
  19. Another spin for Complete Capitol 50s Four Freshmen, CD3 I'll put on that Johnny Smith set today too. That one also needs dusting !
  20. I have that very LP (the Gramophone magazine review copy) in my collection. Still near mint !
  21. “Apparently there was always some confusion regarding the course, and students had difficulty in picking up books from the required reading list, although one listing, The Source Book of Man’s Life and Death (i.e, The Bible, ‘King James’), whose author was listed as ‘God,’ was available from ‘numerous’ publishers.” Love it !
