Just wading into the box, having collected it today. I must admit that the quality is better than expected visually, no complaints here for just over £2 per CD - and the booklet at least has a precis of each of the albums (it's a small hard-bound book, in both French and English). No sign of any glue issues so far - touch wood. Maybe that was a problem with the Amazon batch? Just listening to 'Dark Magus' (aka No. 43 ) - sounds to my ears to be a definite improvement on the US issue (never heard the Japanese CD issue). Better top end and more presence.
I always like it when CBS France put out these 'Miles specials'. Brings back fond memories of the 1973 3LP + 45 rpm single set 'The Essential Miles Davis', put out by Henri Renaud. The one with the velveteen box cover.
PS - there's also a flyer in the box mentioning a 'limited edition trumpet case' offering in 2010 with details at www.geniusofmilesdavis.com. Is that the one that will be populated with metallic spine sets?
