  2. Yikes ! Seems that someone at Mosaic was thinking about 'Reece Witherspoon' instead of 'Reese Wetherspoon' (sorry ubu, couldn't resist ). The Dizzy Reece Mosaic Select sounds great, by the way ! And may I recommend the Tony Williams as an alternate, if you don't already have it?
  3. Maybe in the US, but here in London, HMV Oxford Circus has piles of them in the jazz department. Ooo - I may be calling in there tomorrow. I'll avert my gaze !
  4. Stan Tracey Big Brass 'We Love You Madly' (UK Columbia Lansdowne series, stereo). Nice 1969 birthday tribute to Duke (also televised by the Beeb) with Ian Carr, Don Rendell, Joe Harriott.
  5. In that earlier (pre-Liberty) era, Plastylite.
  6. Woody Herman Select, CD2. Good stuff !
  7. Kenny Dorham 'Round About Midnight At The Cafe Bohemia' (Music Matters 2x45rpm, mono)
  8. I've got The Flip too. I guess I could go check the pressing, though it didn't strike me as particularly rare. I don't know about The Flip's rarity. I bought mine in the bargain/cut-out bin at some place like Woolco back in the 1970s. Got mine from Dan !
  9. Dubai fall-out kicking in?
  10. Completely plain white on one side chewy. My theory - they were churning out so many of these to satisfy marketing demand for Lee's 'hit' resulting in the occasional quality assurance shortfall.
  11. But you could take a fast boat over to that Italian theme island they are/were planning and pick up some imported Ital-digestibles !

  14. and I've got an original mono Sidewinder with a clear white label on one side.
  15. Saw a fairly beat up looking mono copy in one of the stores over here for £8. Should have bought it as it's quite possible it would have sounded much better than it looked (Blue Note LPs are nuclear hardened). The laminated cover wasn't in bad nick either !
  16. Quite possibly, as this was a Liberty era original. A nice sounding session, heck even my Pathe Marconi 80s DMM of this sounds good !

  18. That's correct - they were very difficult to pick up over here. I survived for years with Italian import CBS pressings of 'Miles Smiles' and 'Sorcerer' and a very nice Dutch CBS pressing of 'Filles'. Only had the early 70s electric stuff on UK CBS. Then in the last 10 years I was able to pick up near-mint CBS 6-eye/2-eye LP US originals or 1st repressings at a very good price of pretty well the whole catalogue. Plus the Mosaics.
  19. Very good advice. The trade in those original Blue Notes from the 50s is a racket worthy of Dubai real estate purveyors. The Kings are highly recommended. Alternative - get the Mosaic Mobley 50s set on vinyl or look out for Mobley reissues in the Music Matters 2x45rpm series. 'Roll Call' is just out !
  20. That would be No. 1 for me. I would include other Wheeler ECMs such as 'Widow In The Window' and 'Gnu High' in there too. Not forgetting the Berlin Jazz Composers Orchestra. And both Julian Priester albums !
  21. OTL is special! Oh good ! I've just got the latest batch from them. Includes 'JuJu' and the John Jenkins. And 'Roll Call' !
  22. Hi Yves - No, I've had it for a couple of months now, Royal Mail didn't mess up. Many thanks by the way, great set. Ah - I should have said 'Dizzy Reece' arrived this weekend.
  23. Kenny Drew 'Undercurrent' (Music Matters 2x45rpm, stereo). Lovely ! Their 'Out To Lunch' will be on deck next.
