'The Jazz Couriers' (Tempo TAP15, DG mono) with Tubby Hayes and Ronnie Scott
John Cameron 'Off Centre' (Deram, mono) - with Harold McNair
and yet another spin for 'Fuchsia Swing Song'
Even more obnoxious than the Moggie set he was selling!
Jeez...
Of course, you could always go with the CD set at $80, or whatever it still goes for at Mosaic Central.
I was in the same situation as I didn'tknow that one of my sets was backordered. I had to send then an email to find out. I placed my order on October 13th and it hasn't shipped yet. I think they are snowed under over there but they responded to my email very quickly.
Sounds like my experience too. The only way I knew my Hodges set was backordered was when I did the switch of the Nelson set. Yep, sounds like they are busy.
'Horizon' gets a big from me. It is the album that for me seems to capture best the sound/intensity of the lineup with Joe Ford and John Blake. That particular group was the best Tyner lineup I ever saw.
'Supertrios' has a very loud Tony Williams but is a great listen once you get into it. 'Sama Layuca' is also a favourite on the vinyl - quite pastoral in parts and much more like his Blue Note material.
Basically it was a genius who thought that, after 50 years from his age, some rich audiophile nuts wouldn't like the idea of their 10K $ cartdriges droping off from the outer side of the record breaking the cantilever handmaded by Hattori Hanzo.
An uncle of mine once parked one of these (actually a Messerschmidt) in front of a wall and as it was front-opening only and didn't do reverse, he couldn't get out.
Those double-lined folding card sleeves are the best - with internal card inserts to reinforce. Paris Jazz Corner use them - they offer the best protection in my opinion. Make sure that the edges and corners are well protected and mark/tape it 'Fragile'.
