  1. Including a whole hangar-full of Joe Henderson and Monk box deletions no doubt..
  2. Correct. It covers the period 45-50 and includes Savoy, Apollo, Alladin, Imperial and Victor material.
  3. Baldrick Blackadder Bob
  4. Hmmm - interesting..
  5. ....and I couldn't even take advantage ! (sniff...)
  6. Thanks - sounds just up my street. I like the Vertigo more; it's different, more funky and a bit wild - it's called Dedicated to You, But You Weren't Listening (from a tune written by Hugh Hopper). I'll look out for that one too - another that has been recently reissued on vinyl I think. Saw Keith at Bath a year or so ago in a solo piano performance (plus assorted bricks and chimes etc.). That was wild !
  7. Duke Pearson Big Band 'Now Hear This !' (BN Liberty blue/white stereo)
  8. Thanks - sounds just up my street.
  9. I see that a UK company have just re-issued this on 200g vinyl. How is it?
  10. One of those promos I think - intended for radio station use. Quite rare I believe. And I paid only fifty cents for it!!!! I'm just giggling with excitement about this! I NEVER stumble over anything this rare! May it spontaneously combust in your hands ! My stereo copy turned up in a London store - brand spanking mint after being sat in some store-room in the mid-West for 30-odd years. Uncovered by the store owned on a Stateside shopping trip and sold to me for not much at all. I picked up 'Sweet Honey Bee' at the same store in similar condition.
  11. Martha and the Muffins Allanah Myles Stompin' Tom
  12. Hope everyone enjoys this set as much as I've done over the years. It's a great set to delve into at random and so much variety too.
  13. One of those promos I think - intended for radio station use. Quite rare I believe.
  14. My Liberty (stereo I think) of this one is in the blue/white label scheme. Black with light blue stripe came in the early 70s I believe - a year or two later. Those can sound pretty good too ! Get hold of the 'Now Hear This!' LP on the original Liberty if you like this one. Equally good.
  15. Got that one on a UK London original. Sounds real nice - I'll dig it out later on.
  16. Got my eye on that Oliver Nelson also and possibly the Johnny Smith and/or the Columbia Small Groups sets. And then there's the Diz.. Choices, choices.. Any advice?
  17. I think you would like it !
  18. I managed to miss the deadline for the free shipping sale - looks as if this was fortuitous. I'm worried though about the comments re: slow and falling sales at Mosaic. Time to do our bit, I think, for a very good cause..
  19. Didn't those guys put out a 12" vinyl release back in the day with both front and back covers lined with heavy duty sandpaper? Jeez...
  20. She's definitely got nice assets: http://www.amazon.com/Easy-Love-Roberta-Ga...i/dp/B000FBHCP0 Wrong thread !
  21. A very talented tunesmith. Some of them just lodge in your brain and stay there forever. His music was omnipresent on the box in the 1970s during BBC's light entertainment so called 'golden era' and in many respects defined that era. OK - that Frank Spencer music was never a masterpiece but to put it together overnight on a budget shoestring with two picolos and using morse code of the title was quite nifty.
  22. Always the best motivation.
  23. Here's raising a glass to Larry Young - born 67 years ago today. Too bad he's still not with us. Currently spinning some of his wonderful Blue Note sessions in recognition.
  24. Deep-groove? Yes, amazing sound, but a fair amount of surface noise. Nice ! A spin in a VPI might help. I have the 'Vol 1' - at some stage I will get the Vol 2 I think.
