  1. They'll be even busier. Just put in my order for the Hodges, Oliver Nelson and the Columbia Small Groups. Can't believe that after all this time the Hodges hasn't yet sold out !
  2. Trumpeter Lyn Biviano comes to mind.
  3. That's the one with the photo of the band standing near the pier at the end of Pier Ave. A good one - I've got a King vinyl of it.
  4. Alf Garnett Carlos Garnett Carlos 'The Jackal'
  5. You think German trains are expensive? Take out a 2nd mortgage or sell a few Mosaics before you use one here..
  6. Don't know about Bristle, Yves, but in Bath they sure are fanatical about their rugby. Back in the early 90s when the team was winning everything in sight the whole city went mad over it. That's nice stadium location they have over there too.
  7. Tea with milk here too - a bit of a sore head.
  8. Hmm - I saw that 'Brothers Vol 2' in a rack yesterday. Right next to a copy of 'Black California'. In the end I opted for a 2nd-hand Conn of Grant Green's 'Sunday Morning'.
  9. Dexter Gordon 'Go' (BN NY USA mono)
  10. You know, I never as a rule watch rugby but the last 20 minutes had me on the edge of my seat. It was a hard fought game.
  11. Stick on a blue note mono deep groove, sip a whisky and relax !
  12. One day to go and I still cant make my mind up. 'The Procrastinator' strikes...
  13. 14-9 to England tonight against France in a close game in Paris. Johnny Wilkinson's golden boot finally came good in the last 10 minutes.
  14. Hmm - looks like they mis-filed Jake Thakray. Nice to see the Joe Harriott biography and the Coleridge Goode autobiography still for sale. Those two are great !
  15. Egon Krenz Enver Hoxa Nicolae Ceaucescu
  16. and there's me thinking it was something to do with this.. That London horn looks pretty neat.
  17. Fabulous set . My general rule on the Miles vinyl sets - buy the lot.
  18. I think your right ! Since when were Sam Smiths and Fullers (London Pride?) the best English beers?
  19. Herbie Hancock 'My Point of View' (BN NY USA mono) Donald Byrd 'Royal Flush' (BN NY USA stereo - brand spanking mint )
  20. I'd like ALL the "Midnight slows" to be reissued. It'd make a nice 5 disc Mosaic set. Or maybe 6, because there's some unissued material. MG The cover art was pretty hot, I seem to recall...
  21. Resistance is futile...
  22. You mean to say that you don't yet have a Hank box? Don't hesitate !
  23. I'm glad I have it. The sound is excellent. It's the type of thing where I'll pull one disc out, but it's unlikely that I'll play 2 in a row. And I'm probably still more likely to play Ellington if I want to hear Hodges. Despite these caveats it's a wonderful set. What else are you considering? I'd forgoten about the Hodges ! Love the earlier vinyl set and as this one must be coming up towards expiry time (?) I suspect I'll order it this time round.
  24. The Three Sounds 'Bottom Up !' (BN Liberty mono label, NY sleeve with a stereo sticker )
