  2. This Mosaic Single is a good one - hope to add a few words next week. Well worth picking up !
  3. 'Sonny Stitt and the Top Brass' (Atlantic stereo, blue/green label)
  4. Roland Kirk 'The Inflated Tear' (UK Atlantic stereo original, Polydor pressing)
  5. Saw him in the early Eighties with George Coleman's octet. A very good, player, indeed. :( Sad news - a fine player with a nice big sound. Yes, saw him myself in that band around that time (the lineup also had Danny Moore I think). There's a fim of this band in action up on dime and recorded in the UK - well worth checking out.
  6. Another late one. Happy Birthday !
  7. Nice . What's the pressing like on side 2?
  8. It's going right on my deck tonight, CD1 onwards. A fitting tribute.
  9. Andrew Hill Solo Mosaic Select, CD1. Delightful !
  10. Bobby Hutcherson Select CD3 on repeated spins today. Gerald Wilson set will be on a bit later.

  12. Always liked that first track off of 'Decoy' - sets the album off to a strong start but unfortunately the rest is somewhat uneven. Still recall hearing that lead-off track at the Royal Festival Hall, London in 1985 when Robert Irving III and Scofield were still in the band. I'd certainly be in for an 80s set. :rsmile:
  13. Not to forget the two sessions recorded in London for the boys at Mole Jazz in the mid-80s on the short-lived Hot House label:
  14. Just ordered the Amy Select along with the Piano Jazz. I have some of the LPs so know that this one is going to be real good.
  15. Oh I don't know - for $112 I could rig up a mega big bunsen burner arrangement with Liebig condenser etc and still have change for a Select.
  16. I think I paid $90 for it ($18 per LP) Golden rule about Miles Mosaic LP sets - grab whilst still in print.
  17. Have taken the pluge with 'Piano Moods' as its now on 'Last Chance'. Also picked up a couple of the Selects and Singles (Freeman, Blakey). Therapeutic !
  18. This set has just gone into the 'Last Chance' category. Damn !
  19. That one's a fabulous little compilation (2CD set presumably?)
  20. Over $2 to the £ makes it feel more of a sale to me. I'm used to having to buy Mosaics at about $1.40 to the £, so this is quite a saving at present. That's what I keep telling myself anyway. and the boiler can go to hell !
  21. So - the big question. Any nice vinyl purchased?
  22. ... and mine is just about to empty as I've been told that I need to replace my central heating boiler and most of the plumbing to the LPG tank ! What a bummer !
  23. Wow - great to see he's still out there gigging !
