  1. I would agree with Stereojack. I have all 4 in the black label (or is it dark green?) pressings in stereo with the deep groove. Fairly heavy grade vinyl. They sound great by the way, recommended. I think some of the later 1960s stereo pressings (such as Lasha/Simmons) had deep grooves so these may be mid/late 60s pressings.
  2. Thanks guys, appreciate your posts. The Mosaics are going down very well and England's cricket team vs. India seems to be outperforming too with 5 6's just hit in the last over by Mascarhenas. Nice weather too - life is good.
  3. In contrast to all the fat American (and non-American) jazz fans? Guy Talk for yourself Guy! Yurpean forum's members are hundred-percent fat-free. One of our British board members would disagree with that..
  4. Thanks chaps - full of cold but am working my way through the latest Mosaics. Just sampling the Paul Chambers ( ) with Richards, Amy and Bennie Green Selects to follow - plus the 'Jazz Piano Moods' set (nice to see that George Avakian did the booklet notes). I'll see you guys in about 3 weeks.
  5. I picked this one up some time ago, must check it out again. There was a rumour some time ago that it may be withdrawn from sale but it seems to have survived unscathed in the shops.
  6. Happy Birthday umum ! Enjoyed the book.
  7. Just wading into my latest Mosaic shipment. Blakey's 'Hard Bop' single on deck. 'Jazz Piano Moods' box to follow.
  8. I take it your not on the 12 point?
  9. You guys can keep him. He's been on our TV screens over the past few years far too much. He's a good cook though. He got his start as a Glaswegian soccer player by the way. 'Nuff said. Nigella has just started a new series over here. Total opposite approach to Gordon.
  10. Very good deal for $4, if I might say.
  11. Oh God. One of the 'B-Ark' crew..
  12. Ordered the Richards along with the Piano Moods. Looking forward to that one.
  13. Jazz Piano Moods set has finally sneaked in at the Post Office.

  16. Should be a link there to an old post?
  17. Same hear ! Just cleaned up that Hampton Hawes. It only cost about £12 a few years ago - full of crud in the grooves but after a few cleans it sounds real nice. VPI rules !
  18. Clem = Prof. Irwin Corey Theory?
  19. Hampton Hawes 'Hampton Hawes Trio' (Contemporary DG mono)
  20. Grassella Oliphant 'The Grass Is Greener' (Atlantic blue/green stereo)
  21. No Come come - British jazz musician who wrote the theme for Newley's TV series "Life of Gurney Slade". It was a big hit. Only for those who live in the country where it was aired! We Americans know Newley, of course, but have never heard of the series. Yes, but Sidewinder's here! MG Don't know the series but I sometimes drive through the village ! It's a misnomer though. I can vouch that there's absolutely no Life in it.
