  1. Having sprung for the IASW and 63-64 vinyl sets I can see going for the Miles/Trane and Second Quintet sets even though I have 90% of the material already on CD. I had none of the 63-64 material and only the 1980s Cd issue of IASW which made justifying ( to myself that is) their purchase. The vinyls sets do sound good.....why did they stop vinyl... poor sales I guess judging by the numbers on my sets. Yep, all of those Miles sets are great - when my 63-64 set arrives I now have the full set. Mosaic took a business decision I guess to stop the vinyl. Not enough punters and too much cost/hassle to put them out. Great shame..
  2. A Barbara Wojirsch style 'A Caddy For Daddy', perhaps?
  3. My guess is that this one might have been acquired by an Australian radio station, for broadcast at the time.
  4. Anyone got any idea which sets are likely to be next on deck for the chop?
  5. Another (with a few years of delayed reaction) spilled mug of the mid-morning cofee !
  6. The UK Joy deep-groove LP is the one to go for.. Fine, fine LP.
  7. WOW - Great catch, sidewinder! Wish I could have a listen Sadly..not mine.
  8. Those APP albums were almost like an ongoing aural backdrop to my University years so they will always be worth hearing for me. Picked up many of the vinyls for £2-£3 and they still sound good. 'Turn of A Friendly Card', 'I Robot' and 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination' are probably my faves - along with 'Pyramid' (apart from the daft vocals). Some very good vocalists on those albums too - Colin Blunstone, Steve Harley come to mind.
  9. Well, I guess they were both recording for Arista at the time..
  10. It's a 'science'?
  11. Ornette Coleman 'Chappaqua Suite' (UK CBS 2LPs)
  12. Miles Davis 'Quiet Nights' (UK CBS mono)
  13. Almost hints of the Liberty 'Rainbow Series' graphics style there.
  14. Can we have a Baby Face Willette 'Stop and Listen' please?
  15. Yep, it's very good. I've got the mono version of the original LP - must find it !

  19. 'The Nat Gonella Story' (UK Columbia Lansdowne mono). With Tony Coe and Phil Seamen.
  20. That's it.
  21. Damn, this is bad news. Wonderful, rock solid player - last time I saw him he was playing alongside Billy Higgins in George Coleman's 1979 quartet (sadly, only George from that group is still with us). RIP. Wasn't there mention on this board that he was a golf pro?
  22. 'Charlie Parker Memorial' (Vogue)
  23. Plays OK on the DVD player. Bluiett is outstanding !
  24. 'Slim Gaillard Rides Again' (Dot, mono)
