  1. The World hangs on tenterhooks..
  2. Sorta like how they did the Howard Riley Discussions reish... Yes !
  3. That's what I hoped! I'll get a couple from Hiroshi next paycheck, methinks... Now if they'd just do Le Temps Fou!... These are recommended. To be honest, I don't think they could have done a better job with the packaging. The Lps are provided with two sleeves - one for holding the record and another one for posing with/admiring/framing which has the flipback on the rear cover. Sleeve art is as good a replica as you can get.
  4. Looks like Jethro Tull on a bad day !
  5. Jeez - I'd forgotten how bad that was. Almost brought up my breakfast !
  6. Hope it was a good one !
  7. Wonder what the full list of titles is? Some Big John Patton would be nice !
  8. I've seen a brand spanking new vinyl with this cover in the racks ! (in Rotterdam - and definitely not an 'original'). I suspect that it might be just the 'Arabia' session.
  9. What you need is some additional therapy. Check out the zweitausendeins thread.
  10. And what will you do after spending all your wages on the CDs ...... Hmmm - good point ! More nuggets found on the site: Magic number ' 502813' gets you Jaki Byard's 'Last From Lennie's 502686 - Sonny Criss 'This Is Criss' 502916 - JJ & Nat Adderley 'Yokohama Concert Vol 2' 502661 - Don Sleet 'All Members' 502807 - Mal Waldron Memorial Album. I've added the Byard and JJ/Nat to my order. Had resigned myself to paying £12+ over here for the Byard.
  11. 'Lonely Star' - It's the third of the disks with Chet Baker's Prestige material with Kirk Lightsey and George Coleman. Very nice they are too - the others are 'Stairway To The Stars' and 'On A Misty Night'.
  12. they are not able to pay me enough money so that I can afford my addiction to buy Jazz records... When I retire I think I'll get me a part time job there so that I can get the staff discount.
  13. Wow, muchos gracias Mr Tjobbe. Say, you don't work for Zweitausendeins customer support do you? I didn't have the 'Lonely Star' so this completes the trio.
  14. I don't know but I've just ordered it. The 'Greatest Jazz Concert In The World' isn't but it's still enjoyable and well worth a listen. I have a vinyl 3LP copy.
  15. I have a variation on this dream which involves sitting a whole load of crucial exams for graduation in 1-2 weeks time for which I have missed the recent lectures and not done any revision for. Nobody reminds me or says anything about it so it just sort of drifts by in the dream until I wake up sweating. Things like jazz usually interfere and stop me doing the revision. In fact I had forgotten about this dream (which recurs a lot) until I saw the thread. I put this down to all those years of pre-Uni and Uni Engineering exams and associated panics.
  16. And on vinyl too I believe, Brownie.
  17. Whoopee - even my 'Lem's Beat' Not so fast!!!! Your little precious is now being held in the basement while a 'Lem-for-Lush Life' prisoner swap is being negotiated. I'm adhereing to Geneva Convention dicates and letting it out for 10 minutes of fresh air and one cigarette per day. I'll send in Blair to negotiate. Or maybe not...
  18. You won't regret picking up the JJJ set. Sets like that don't come round every day and once they are gone (again), they are gone.
  19. Either Frankfurt or Stuttgart I guess. Just had a check for the return of the Bill Evans 'Consecration' and 'Last Walz' sets and no sign of those puppies yet.
  20. How are these? I saw Hiroshi has a few, and my CD's are scuffed to hell! I've just A/B'd it against my near-mint UK Fontana stereo copy. The original sounds better - fuller dynamics (especially at top end), better soundstage and more detail. I'm not convinced that this reissue is from master tapes, although it does seem to be in stereo. Maybe they have lifted from a mint vinyl and de-clicked? I bought it as a second 'play' copy to preserve the condition on my original. Certainly though, it sounds better than the Mole LP of this title. Anyone got the Ronnie Ross 'Cleopatra's Needle' Japanese reissue to confirm what this one is like? Quality of the sleeve/packaging on the Japanese reissue is first rate. A very good facsimile.
  21. That's a great one! Got that and Preach Brother in Minneapolis, top condition NY, for $15 each... Strangely enough, the Elder Don was $40. Bought it anyway, of course... Grrrrr...
  22. Whoopee - even my 'Lem's Beat'
