  1. Currently to be seen on BBC TV in a set of repeats of the 'Avengers' at her 60s best She's a granny now but still cuts the mustard !
  2. Grant Green 'I Want To Hold Your Hand' (BN NY USA mono) Grachan Moncur III 'Evolution' (BN NY USA mono) Mike Taylor Trio 'Trio' (UK Columbia Lansdowne mono)
  3. Got mine today. Thanks Tooter !
  4. Thanks for the heads up on that. Very cool !
  5. Various bits and pieces picked up years ago whilst scuba diving in the UK. An old inkwell, loads of musket shot and some brass lumps from a warship. On one dive near Plymouth I did find an incendiary shell but I put that right back before it started fizzing ( ). Also a couple of rounds of (used) WWII German and US ammo picked up near the Nijmegen landing sites (echos of Aggie..)
  6. Lou Donaldson 'Blues Walk' (BN 47W63rd DG mono)
  7. While you are assaulting your credit card on amazon.co.uk, don't forget the various Rhapsody Films DVD releases that can be had at their market place for £7.99, a saving of £9 each.
  8. That one is fantastic. Highly recommended at the price !
  9. I'd like to telegraph the same message to Allan from my little patch of ground -- the Joe Henderson 'In 'n Out' BN is as good as I'd hoped! Spun that little jobber several times this weekend! Great stuff !
  10. Here's wishing him well. I saw him in London about 3-4 years ago in a band with George Coleman. The speed of playing had slowed a bit but the sound and phrasing were truly distinctive. A memorable experience, for sure.
  11. Lake Superior in a wet suit? Brave man !
  12. I have to admit that my experience has been positive with ZYX disks, although some on the board have had problems with them. Was playing their version of Frank Wess 'The Long Road' yesterday and it sounded absolutely excellent, lovely big soundstage. 'Remastering by Kirk Felton' in the US is usually a very good sign (which seems to be the case with most of the '2LPs on 1CD' type reissues that Fantasy have put out and some of which are in the 'Zwei' bargain list).
  13. Looks like they are quoting a 1-2 week availability for more copies. Why can't these #####ers get the Buddy Rich and Oliver Nelson in stock at the nice price. The frustration is killing me !
  14. There was a limited heavyweight vinyl reissue put out of that one on Japanese Brunswick some time ago. I have a copy and can highly recommend it. Moody early 60s Euro hard-bop.
  15. Nucleus 'Elastic Rock' (BGO reissue). Picked up in Oxfam today for £3 ! I just love doing my bit for charity and scoring on jazz vinyl at the same time.
  16. About 25 euro (haven't checked in the last few days to see if it is still listed).
  17. Various Artists - 'Jazz Wave, Ltd - On Tour' (BN Liberty). Side 1 - Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra. Nice stuff !
  18. Shouldn't be too difficult to pick up. I think I paid the grand total of £2 for mine in Mole Jazz, where it had been gathering dust upstairs in the overhead rack for years. It had me sneezing uncontrollably for several days until I cleaned it up.
  19. Looks like the cover art was done by the guy who did the Solid State Blakey 'Three Blind Mice'. Showroom dummy fetish !
  20. Yep, I've got this 2LP set on a Liberty pressing. I don't believe a volume 2 was ever produced (the whole thing hinged around a tour Sonny Lester put together I believe). Indeed, side 3 is incredibly short..
  21. Ah - I'm thinking of the other one ('A New Sound', I think it's called). Agreed on the sound of the Jasmine reissue - and indeed most of the rest of this series. Have picked up most of them by now, which should save me about $10K+ on Tempos.
  22. Holy **** ! Tape residue on the seams as well. For a 10" LP lasting about 20 minutes, that's about $200 a minute ! Prices on these Tempos are nuts. I'll stick with my £5 Jasmine reissue, which sounds good enough to me.
  23. Evan - Zweitausendeins.de have the 'Group' box at a very tempting price, if you are looking for it.
  24. Give it a good kick and tell it to shut up. I find that always helps. Just about to 'crack open' the Kelly/Chambers VeeJay box.
