It's pretty nice, but not the first Mulligan album I'd buy. (I need to give it another spin...)

Wasn't this on a three-on-two release?

I have mixed feelings about this release. (BTW, Clyde Stubblefield sings on two vocal tracks.) One that I like better is a quartet date that has two of the musicians from the B3 recording: Street Wise led by tenor saxophonist Doug Lawrence with organist Dan Trudell, plus guitarist Ray Macchiarola and drummer George Fludas. It's also on the Alltribe Records label. It sounds more like a boppish jazz organ trio plus sax date and sounds nice...

So how was the concert? I couldn't make it. And by the way, there's a lot of great shows in Philly in the next few weeks: Uri Caine, The Vandermark 5, Ben Allison, Dave Liebman, Roy Haynes & the Heath Brothers, Chris Cuter, Harold Smith/Joe McPhee, Stefon Harris, Toots Thielemans, Rick Margitza, Jon Gordan, Carla Cook, Eric Alexander, Kenny Barron, Sex Mob and Khan Jamal/Matthew Shipp. All in the next four weeks!
