  1. Some nice drawings. By the way, my current avatar is from one of my paintings: Can you spot the jazz musician in the painting?
  2. Here's a nice, new one with Brahem on Oud: Orchestre National de Jazz - Charmediterraneen (ECM 1828) Feb 25 — featuring Anouar Brahem and Gianluigi Trovesi under the directorship of Paolo Damiani
  3. The issued Weston Roulette session is "Uhuru Afrika Freedom Africa."
  4. Great hair! Oh, by the way, his album, "Fiddler On The Roof," will be out from Blue Note on 5/20/03.
  5. CD Universe lists these, although I don't know if they're all currently in stock.
  6. Learning the Korn Shell, 2nd Edition
  7. Sleep is my hobby...
  8. Not a day job!!
  9. One of my favorits by his trio. I'd grab it!

    Hank Jones

They were all been released on CD in Japan last Fall by Universal Japan: Love For Sale New Wine in Old Bottles At The Village Vanguard Vol.1 Milestones
  11. Damn now we're REALLY in trouble P.D. –I’m crushed. Just because I’m a flag waving, liberal, conservative, socialistic, independent, libertarian, democratic, republican, anarchist doesn’t mean I’ll cause trouble. These nested quote boxes are just too cool!
  12. Looks like it doesn't matter if we still have the BNBB in our favorites: Blue Note shut it down! There's now a sign up saying it'll be closed until May!
  13. Jim, don't the titles just roll off your calculator? Which syllable is accented?
  14. How SHRDLU got its name
  15. You might not be rated because Alexa may not have found your site yet.
  16. Thanks for adding that feature. <== I've shrunk down one of my old paintings for mine.
  17. Wasn't there some website that had a list of jazz musician pronunciations? It might have been on a radio station web site. Anyone remember?
  18. Keep your fingers crossed for Mosaic to release the Verve Mulligan recordings.

    Jobim

"The Waters of March" performed by Susannah McCorkle.
  20. Every serious Mingus fan should get this set. His musical origins go back a lot further than one would realize based on his commonly available work. And the booklet's fabulous. (96 pages, IIRC.)
  21. Yeah, I think you'd like Street Wise -- some good organ playing there.
  22. That was probably because nobody knew how to pronounce your handle - you shouldn't have taken all those vowels out. Shrdlu had a similar problem. "Shrdlu" has two vowels, 'r' & 'u,' but "JSngry" just plain confused me at first. "JSn?" What's that? For the first month or so, I that his handle was "Jim's angry."
  23. All the more reason not to use them! ...and if you don't use them, you don't have to worry about blinding other drivers.
  24. I'm not a Mulligan expert, but the starting place should be Miles's "Birth of the Cool" sessions. Titles by Mulligan that I like include "Mulligan Meets Ben Webster" (Verve), "In Concert, Paris Olympia, 10/6/62" and "Concert Band" (RTE), and "Pleyel Concert" (Vogue) and his work with Chet Baker. Hopefully, someone else will chime in, too...
  25. Ahh, thanks. I was to lazy to walk upstairs and check.
