I drove up from Philly for this and got more than I expected, i.e. the blackout! I was in Downtown Music Gallery when the lights went out at 4:10 pm. It took a while to realize this wasn't just a neighborhood thing.
They decided to go ahead with the gig anyway as an acoustic show. The guitarist had a lute with him. They tried to find an acoustic bass for Hugh, but they couldn't locate one. Thirty minutes into the show, someone lent him a Martin acoustic guitar and he joined the show. The music was good, if not what I was expecting, the atmosphere was odd -- the show was illuminated by an emergency light and a couple flashlights.
It was one of the strangest days in my life and I'm not sure that I've recovered yet. Did get to chat a bit with Elton and Hugh in DMG before the gig...
