Jarman is with them again, although I don't think they'll be playing together that frequently since they live in different areas now. The group has recently recorded two albums (with Jarman) for Pi that'll be out this year. There will also be an ECM album that was recorded a year or two ago (without Jarman) as a tribute to Lester. I believe the group will be playing at the Chicago Jazz Festival at the end of the summer.

I haven't seen it yet, put perhaps there's something of interest in the notes in the recent Proper 4-CD box set Swing Tanzen Verboten: Swing & Nazi Propaganda .

I'm hoping to see the Peter Brotzmann/William Parker/Hamid Drake Die Like A Dog Trio at Penn on the same night.

It's out-of-print, as are his three other Muse recordings. (I especially liked "Brilliant Corners.") Savoy now owns Muse; perhaps they'll reissue some of these. (Shameless plug: I may have extras of a couple of his Muse titles.)

Michael Chabon's "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Klay" - an epic novel of the 1930's & 40s and the birth of the comic book industry. I'm about 100 pages into it. I like the part where the cousin helps smuggle the Golem out of Prague...
