I thought A.J. actually pitched fairly well last night--if Joe Girardi had lifted him after the IBB, as he should have, that game might have had a very different outcome. (In fact, Jsngry, Joe's managing of the bullpen in Game 4 comes close to giving back what Texas gave to us in Game 1.) If, by some mad chance, NY made it to the World Series, we'd probably see A.J. again. Meantime, what was with the wild dude who stormed the field last night trying to attack A-Rod--allegedly because he's jealous of A-Rod's relationship with Cameron Diaz? Guy goes by the name of Grim LeRogue... posters over at Pinstripe Alley were joking that it was one of the mods. I thought he did a creditable job but Girardi a bad one by not pulling him earlier. Girardi has never impressed me; I don't think he has a clue as to what is going on. Looks like they're stuck with him as the Cubs position is now filled. I don't have a big problem with Girardi except that he keeps sticking with A.J. no matter how bad it gets. If the Yanks do manage to win the ACLS, I hope Girardi has finally seen the light when it comes to Burnette. Unfortunately, I doubt it. I guess when you're paying a guy $16 million, it's hard to give up on him. Guess my feelings about A.J. have become pretty obvious.

Happy Birthday, David!

Syl Johnson is a fine performer who's had some great moments in his recording career, but I can't imagine wanting or needing 81 tracks by him. That said, I'm sure there are fans who can't wait for this to be released. That's what makes them true fans and that's part of what keeps music alive.

You won't win many games pitching like that. If he's a five inning pitcher, who needs him? And for much of the season, he's been maybe a three inning pitcher. A.J.'s making 16 mil. and he's pitched like a minor leaguer since May of this season.

Whoever wins the NY/Texas playoff, at least I've seen the last of A.J. Burnett this year.

Thanks for the heads up on the Roscoe Mitchell. I look forward to hearing it. No listing here on Amazon.com or CDU yet. CDU and Amazon.com have Far Side listed as a November 9th release.

Who do you most wish had lived to record 3 more albums?
paul secor replied to Bol's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Magic Sam very likely would have made some money - a good thing for him - but I don't think that I'd want to hear the music. Probably would have been assembly line blues funk, like Albert King ended up doing. -
I'm not a big Tatum fan, so I don't have many recordings to look through, but "Toledo Blues" on God Is in the House is credited to Tatum. Maybe blues tunes don't count as songs.

Unbelievable craziness, stemming from nothing at all. ????

John Engels is the drummer. Don't know the others.

Thanks for that, Rod. Jimmy Knepper had such a beautiful tone.

He had his own voice and left us some wonderful music. There would no doubt have been more if he hadn't had health problems over the last part of his life. Thank you, Mr. Brown. You'll be remembered and missed.

So just how different are the mono and stereo versions of the electic stuff, is it a different mix or is it more punch, what are we talking here? Don't have the stereo versions anymore, but the mono versions sounded more focused & just more listenable/enjoyable to me. To my ears, on the mono version of John Wesley Harding, Charlie McCoy's bass and Kenneth Buttrey's drums sound like part of the music, as opposed to mere accompaniment. And, for me, there's so much going on during Blonde on Blonde - not so many musicians, but so many different things happening on many of the tracks - that the mono sound pulls everything together more than the stereo sound did, which works better for me. I've read that Dylan worked on the mono mixes of Blonde on Blonde and left the stereo mixes to studio engineers. I don't know if that's so, and I've read nothing about the mono mixes for John Wesley Harding. All I know is what my ears tell me.

Maybe next time you're rushing to defend someone oh masked stranger, remember to bring along your sense of humour. It doesn't make your point at all, it just means you have even less of a sense of humour when you're being self righteous. I've read a lot worse things on here, some of the directed at me, yet strangly they didn't seem to bother you at all, kinda makes my point, doesn't it? Thanks for finally admitting that, I was almost becoming a little paranoid there, and seeing as my opinionated and curmudgeonly behaviour is so abhorrent to you and probably the community at large, maybe you should just man up and ban me? Go on, it will make you feel much better. If this last comment is meant as humor, perhaps you should have included an emoticon. I thought that Jim was reaching out to you. I've had no problem with your posts before this. You and Allen had a feud, but I took that as two guys with strong egos butting heads and maybe taking it a bit far, but that was between the two of you. I did think you overreacted to a relatively harmless remark by Chuck, who has some stong opinions, but who will back those opinions with good reasoning. Chuck is a great guy. You probably are too. Hope all of this will come to an end, as there's no good reason for it not to.
