  1. I guess I wasn't paying attention and never heard rumors he was sick. My older sister was a big fan so I remember hearing tunes like "Changes", "Fame", "Young Americans" and the Ziggy Stardust album blasting all the time. It grew on me. I still consider myself a fan and was sad to learn of his passing. RIP dude.
  2. I've been dealing with this on and off for years. Like mjazzg it's very difficult for me to fall asleep when I'm actually trying and like erbowl I believe it is usually related to stress and some anxiety. I try my best to clear my head after getting into bed. I now have to insist that my wife mention nothing business related or start a conversation that is too heavy. She's out in like five minutes so it was frustrating for me to hear, "hey what about that bid due tomorrow" and then she falls asleep. Looking at an email before bed time was the kiss of death for me, so I no longer do that. Some nights are better than others but no matter what I always seem to get up several times throughout. I seem to do best when I keep my wake up time early and consistent and when my day has more physical activity and is less about numbers and business operation issues. Maybe I'll try some of Jim's methods.
  3. I've finished watching all five seasons of Game of Thrones. I'm now giving Shameless a shot. So far, so good.
  4. I was hoping HBO or somebody was going to pick this up.
  5. I finally gave in and started to watch Game of Thrones. I'm up to episode 7 of season 1.
  6. RIP Cynthia.
  7. I think you're correct but I sure as hell can't find it.
  8. It's become a big part of how I view TV shows and movies. Most of the series running on HBO, Showtime, etc. come on too late on Sunday for me to watch so I either set the DVR or catch it with the OnDemand function. It comes in most handy with regular network and commercial cable channels as well. Some of the shows OnDemand are rigged by the networks so you can't bypass the commercials so I prefer to DVR but don't always know to do it. I'm still in the cable world. I hate it, but satellite is not without it's problems. I have a certain admiration for those that have done away with both and gone completely Netflix and shit like that. I don't see myself doing that anytime soon but have plans to start exploring it.
  9. Congrats to you Dan. It looks like a very nice place. Do yourself a favor and get a goat or two.
  10. So I noticed this weekend, yeah I do this sometimes. Not to the extent of my parents. My father would buy a new TV and hide the remote, never to be seen again and that way it would never get broken. I do the majority of the cooking at home and realized there new pans and various cooking tools I have never christened. It's as if I didn't want to ruin them which is completely ridiculous. My wife bought an immersion blender at my request maybe a couple of years ago and this weekend was the first time I ever used it. She nearly fell out of her chair but I said, "that's it, I'm opening all this shit". I stock pile certain things in my office too and hate to give them out. My wife on the other hand doesn't have this problem. Oh sure, she keeps some things mainly for decoration or very special occasions but for the most part it's all to be used. It's funny because when she wants a cocktail she goes straight for the best crystal glassware and I grab a juice glass.
  11. What, you don't want to attach yourself to a major class action lawsuit for asbestos exposure and net $50?
  12. I tune in to all those channels like MeTV, antenna TV, Buzzr, etc. I love to watch the old shows but the commercials are depressing as shit. Ads for walk in tubs, catheters, emergency alert, hearing aid devices, hair procedures, ambulance chasing lawyers, reverse mortgages, blah blah blah.
  13. This was from a month or so ago. A liquid materials recycling business down the street has some holding tanks go up in flames.
  14. Wow, this is sad news. He did some appearances on the HBO show Treme. I thought they showed him a lot of respect. RIP
  15. I remember that. Good luck to the Nationals after this move.
  16. Don't feel too bad for me. My disappointment started with the Yankees half ass run at the post-season and I know you have no sympathy for that.
  17. Hey feel free to rub my nose in it. It certainly looks like KC will win and if they do, I will congratulate KC fans. Truth be told, I actually rooted for them against the Giants so I have no problem with the Royals, except of course when playing NY. My comment about Royals not winning it in 4 was directed at a previous post by Hot Ptah in which I said I would eat a bag of candy born if that happened. As far as class goes I've not referred to anyone here as "ignorant" or what they say as a "bitch comment" so you should probably check yourself on that. For me, I don't see any problem with a little razzing/ribbing and shit talk. For you, I guess it's cool only when defending the USPS or while patting yourself on the back for something, just not with baseball players or teams. Got it.
  18. News flash for you, Mets winning game 3 was a huge victory for them. What you never give the other side a hard time? Like Brad said, no need to get all personal, so lighten up Francis.
  19. Well, so much for Royals winning in four games. No candy corn for me! Best part of game last night was seeing the big mouth of Moustakas shut the fuck up.
  20. Nah, I've never been a fan of the candy corn, at least not int he last 40 years. Oh sure, I did the put them on the teeth routine for a chuckle but that's it. On a side note. Yesterday some of my guys and the office staff did a cookout for my birthday. One of the guys brought an industrial size piñata, when we finally busted the thing open it was filled with candy predominately from Mexico (duh). Little tiny bubble gum, tootsie rolls etc. There was some real interesting candy in there though that I've never had. A lollipop that comes with a packet of hot candy powder was the standout. No candy corn though.
  21. We'll see. Saying KC will win the next two in NY seems a bit cocky but if you're right I'll eat an entire bag of candy corn.
  22. Lack of soda and perhaps too much candy corn has obviously turned your brain into mush. what's your pick or you just gonna bash mine Sorry dude, I was just having a little fun. Like Brad I'm going for the Mets all the way. I'm expecting a great series no matter what and it may go the distance but I'm saying the Mets will take it. I'm really hoping the time off did not cool the bats, especially Murphy's. I had a blast watching him launch the ball time after time.

  24. Match Game 78 at the moment. Last night and I'm not sure I ever saw this happen before, Rayburn actually read the writer's answer to the question while asking the question.
