  1. Sorry to disagree but Allen's bullshit chased away far better quality posters/members than he ever was and will be. Yes, he chased away me and John (couw) and others, but I'd be the last person to say he didn't have a shitload (!) to contribute. He has a manner I would usually disagree with (hell, always!), but he also had ideas that got me to think twice, three times and four times. The last thing I would say is that Allen didn't know his shit. I would never, ever, formulate that kind of sentiment! I'm actually indebted to him for moving my small German ("Heil!") pea brain an inch further. Even if it wasn't a pea-brain, I learned from Allen's posts (and I would have loved to personally shove a red-hot poker up his ass once, or thirty-three times). Still, the point I'm trying to make is that Jim and the band do NOT deserve the in-fighting, the fallout and the personal crap posted here. Allen, I'll single you out here although you are gone (but might possibly be reading along). Please forgive me. Jim does not need the Hitler jokes, the personal swipes right and left. He also doesn't need the innuendo and, in my opinion, somewhat cynical stance. I actually concur in many areas (believe me, I do), but this is Jim's jazz board whose limits got buried in a lot of shit you and others posted here. Does that make what you posted unimportant? --- No! ---- But it asks you to be more restrained, to keep in mind where you're posting what! At all times. This is not a white canvas to splurt some paint onto. Not at all. I always wonder if "you" (meaning everyone) would allow "you" (meaning everyone) in your own living room. Probably not, even if you say so. An agenda is nothing worthwhile to "push", although it might damn well be called for. There are ways of getting things across. "Restraint" is called for in a house that is not your own. "Restraint", for wont of a better word, is called for in an environment, in which you simply won't be allowed to speak your (full) mind. Run out into the street and everyone will hear you! Just don't alway fucking blurt out what's on your mind. Hell, we're all grown-ups. I don't know how many times I had blood running from the tip of my tongue because I bit down hard on it, avoiding what was about to spill out. This has fuck all to do with censorship. It has (and call me old-fashioned) everything to do with courtesy. It has to do with Jim! All of you, and I mean everyone, owe Jim Alfredson that much. The crap that has been going on has to stop. Or you're going to be homeless. Believe me. V, you're right and I'm not trying to imply Allen was not one of the more knowledgeable members and had his moments of brightness. For me though, a lot of what he said/did came at a major cost. And for a simple mind like mine, I'd rather have the comical relief I found in exchanges with John, yourself and some of those other knuckleheads that have left us. Works for me better than reading a lot of what he felt the need to post. Just my take. For the record. I don't have anything personal against Allen Lowe, and had no personal feuds going with him. I mean, if and when he decides to return I have no plans of dredging this shit up.
  2. Sorry to disagree but Allen's bullshit chased away far better quality posters/members than he ever was and will be. He cried personal foul when something was directed at him but if you go back and look in the history, 3/4 of his posts were total crap, a waste of time and space, not to mention extremely nasty and yes, personal. I'd take couw or any of those cats posting here in place of his "coherence is overrated" type threads and repetetive lame attempts at jokes. Maybe all those former members weren't professional musicians with stories of working with this guy and maeeting that guy but they definitely added more character and subtance to the board. Jim has had to delete multiple threads over time and is now going to police this place in a different way as a result of his antics. Yeah, this board is poorer alright, but it ain't because of Allen not being here, he already did his part. Chuck is right, the thread should not have been deleted as it once again wipes out the history and examples. For those that will miss him during his temporary hiatus just start a ridiculous theard and post twenty or so one liners with obscure references or mention Hitler and it's as if he never left.
  3. Have an enjoyable day, Chuck. You will be the (virtual) guest of honor at dinner tonight. One day you will the actual guest of honor, but we'll be having chicken wings.
  4. Could be. I looked up the population of Cove OriGON and unless I was looking up the wrong place, it is small, like under 1000 people small. Even though you're probably unable to read this, I say good luck to you, moose, hope to see you back hear soon. Or, I say go suck an egg you doofus mozzerfocker, good riddance. Take your pick.
  5. What can I say, it was by request. Sounds pretty tasty to me. Do you fry, bake or grill the wings? Hot sauce and butter or something fancier? I made some asparagus soup tonight that turned out really well. Pretty simple recipe too. I marinate the wings for several hours ahead of time. Hot sauce, garlic, Worcestershire, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Usually I would grill them for about 40 minutes over indirect low to medium heat and throw a couple of smoker pouches on. However, last night I tried preparing them according to an Alton Brown recipe. I still did the marinade, steamed the wings for 10 minutes, let them dry in the fridge for about an hour, and then baked them for 40 minutes. They came out nice and crispy, almost like fried. And for the sauce, you got it, nothing more than tabasco and butter. Tonight is homemade spinach ravioli in a simple tomato basil sauce.
  6. What can I say, it was by request.
  7. Chicken wings and twice baked potatoes.
  8. I never thought she was sexy, at least not in the last 20 years. As for her looks today..., I'm not impressed with that much plastic surgery. The angle on this picture actually shows there isn't much in the way of a shape. If she wants to prove something, let's see her lose the nylon, boots, and jacket.
  9. We just installed this on all of our computers after paying a small fortune on new network/server gear at the office. The consultant dude said it is the shit.
  10. Season 3 of The Wire
  11. Shit dude, buckle up 'cause I think summer is upon you.
  12. That was so fucking funny, no matter how many times I see it I still laugh. Yeah, it's a classic part. He did a movie funny titled "Fatso" with Anne Bancroft and Ron Carey in the late 70s that I also enjoy. RIP, Dom.
  13. Have a good one.
  14. Actually it's the entire world that is overreacting. Not to say there wasn't or isn't reasons to be concerned, but damn, some of that shit was really going way overboard. Finally today.... Health Officials Begin to Ease Public Alerts About Swine Flu
  15. By the way, how come people are not getting creative with these masks? I mean why not at least wear one of those plastic halloween masks from back in the day instead of the same old boring surgical and dust masks.
  16. Parmigiano-Reggiano crusted halibut with Orzo Primavera.
  17. I saw one at work today. Asshole that I am, I faked a sneeze as I walked by... I've been faking farts when I walk by people wearing masks. Well...., not really faking.
  18. Someone sure talks like they are a bigger man than they really are 120. Have you picked up my dry cleaning yet???? Oh, um...sorry, not yet! I was busy mixing up a Bloody Mary and preparing your omelette. Now, about those Italian suits of yours --- the ones I just took to that dry-cleaner on Wilson Blvd.? Well, there was this gas leak and ............ I heard all the debris and rubble from the blast was taken to Chris Albertson's closet. The suits are probably there.
  19. You know, I only bought the Lamborghini so I could go to all the schools and lecture the kids on how crime doesn't pay and to not do drugs. I assure you, it's all legit. En route to "checkpoint chickie"!
  20. WTF? So a company can legally paint up a bus to make it look like something official for the President? Does this mean we can all paint our cars up with the local PD colors and gear of choice and say it's all just for fun?
