  1. I agree that Tripp Lites are good products. Personal experience with their isolators such as the IS500 are very positive.
  2. Certainly a different experience than many of us! Welcome to the board!
  3. The Ellington Small Group Mosaic.

Really hard for me to pick favorites. I think this year I played "Planet Waves," "Blood on the Tracks" and the second disc of "No Direction Home" (I get stuck on "Visions of Johanna") the most.

I'm with you on Desolation Row. . . . I think it's more than just the melody, it's the imagery and the sound of the words. Fascinates me still!
  6. I've gotten better and better at resisting! Being fiscally challenged helps.
  7. Mine was either the first Smithsonian lp box set, or Bremen/Lausanne by Keith Jarrett. . . can't remember specifically which, got them both about the same time more than thirty years ago. First cd box set was the Prestige Chronicles box set (Miles Davis).
  8. Many more bikin' returns!
  9. Wait a minute, when I looked up Fearless I realize I watched half of that over someone's shoulder, who was watching an Asian dvd of it on his laptop on the bus from Houston to Austin. Not quite my cup of tea. I like the fantastical and "ancient" ambiance much better.
  10. I don't know, looks fine to me. Colors, action .. . .Just saw the trailer at a showing of Apoctolypto this afternoon. I was NOT ambivalent about Hero and Flying Daggers, love 'em! Have not seen Fearless.
  11. This looks as if it's going to be an awesome movie! http://www.sonyclassics.com/curseofthegoldenflower/
  12. Yes, it appears Sting played one of the head Mods.
  13. I think the real contest is between Pamela Williams and Mindi Adair

Interesting, I hadn't seen that. Yes, Dylan. . . it was a year of appreciating him more for me as well, sparked by "No Direction Home." I love the most the stuff with The Band for sheer listenability, but the force and strength of his lyrics from the third lp or so up through Blood on the Tracks in my estimation is astonishing.
  15. Don't think so. . . but don't remember specifically. . . been way too long since I saw this. edited for spellin'
  16. I haven't heard this one in years. I always liked it, the best records by the Who I'd ever bought. The movie wasn't bad either.
  17. Weird, I was surprised at how the sound was better than I thought it would be.
  18. I bought the Secret Sessions from eMusic last month, and I'm glad I did!
  19. I recall an episode which totally and unexpectedly brought serious tears to my eyes. It was an episode where JD had a female patient who knew she was going to die yet she had this bright and positive attitude. He asked her what she thought dying was going to be like and she said that she envisioned it something like a Broadway musical with music and song. When it came time and she died, JD's coworkers were consoling him for losing the patient but he was consoled with one of his "head fantasies"where he envisioned the deceased patient being sent off with her singing this wonderful ballad accompanied by other members of the hospital staff. It totally worked on me and I still am moved just thinking about it. The episode where Cox's best friend and brother-in-law (played by Brandon Frasier) returns after a two-year absence (susequent to a 2 episode story arc earlier in the season or in the prior season) was also touching with it's surprise ending. I don't think I started watching this until the 2nd season, but got totally hooked thereafter. I think the incredibly delicate balance between off the wall comedy and the way they dealt with serious issues and relationships at the same time is wonderful. I'm literally buying the show's premise and have the first 4 seasons on DVD and I think they're all great. I don't like what I've seen so far of the 6th season. I think the show is showing some serious slipping. I've seen both those episodes and while I agree that it's interesting how they deal wtih "deeper" content, I never am actually moved by any of the material. I'm too old and jaded maybe. Also I just sort of supsend a lot of my personal involvement in the show emotionally because a good chunk of the humor is so over the top. . . it disconnects me. My favorite character is the janitor.
  20. Yes, overlap is a problem indeed. . . . I'm still trying to hang with the versions of this material I have and am resisting the JSP set(s).
  21. Good God, I couldn't choose between them, both are excellent sets. . . . Money would dictate whether the Capitol could be purchased or not. . . .
  22. Interesting that this is considered a dramedy. I guess it tries to be but I just see mainly hamfisted comedy and I'm never really touched. Not one of my favorites. . . first season was the best.
  23. I've never seen him in the role, but can imagine that he'd make an impression!
  24. yourmusic.com now has the RCA three cd overview set by the way. . . .
  25. We're talking about an lp box set on the Audio Fidelity label released in the eighties I think.
