  1. Added are two new "Songbook" titles from Legacy of Armstrong and Astaire (seems to draw from RCA and Sony titles), the latest Geri Allen. . . and the Essential Michael Bolton! Okay, forget the Bolton, just kidding, honest!
  2. He's busy tweaking some problems with the fall line of running shorts. . . .
  3. Yeah Clem, I've had several cds with inserts showing A Drum is A Woman with catalog number and everything. I'm out of the campaigning Sony and Mosaic game; last time I did ask about this title it was "no plans."

Yes, an Andorran will doubtless surface. I've already a US lp, and have it transferred to cdr. I'm interested in an official expanded version from Sony though. . . . Maybe one day.

PS: There's a Claude Boliing version of this one. I'm really not a fan of Boling versions. . . but this one is a good one!

So did you hear any extra material? Or just the lp material? I've got the lp. LOVE it. I may seek out the French cd (though I know it won't sound llke the Schaap produced one did).
  8. Hilvershum is probably the hardest to find of the three, but I enventually found a (Japanese) cd from Europe.
  9. I've actually got all the Freddie McCoy lps on Prestige, so I'm not clamoring for that. I'd be down with an Ammons box of some sort. And a McLean box; I really like his Prestige work and would like to see it get some. . . prestige. I'd like to see a box set of all the Cannonball Adderley produced Riversides.
  10. The Moncurs Some of the Hubbards
  11. I almost voted for the Rich because I really am intrigued by it and like the albums within I've hears. I've both the Dizzy and the Jazz Crusader sets. . . I voted for the Jazz Crusaders. It's just so fun from start to finish, has a "Christmas gift" feel to it.

    Pepper Adams

I was just marveling yet again at his work (and EVERYONE's!) on "Royal Flush." So good this is out domestically now. Pepper. . . well I don't think he ever disappoints!
  13. Well, you have some amazing music to absorb. I'm glad you got the box. It's one of the best box sets ever made. Up there with the Mosaic Charlie Parker box in my estimation of great boxes that really offer up something solid and new to fans.

Someone said here on this board, I remember vaguely and painfully, that. . . it isn't going to happen~!

    What are you Questioning Evan?
  16. I think 90% of New Grass is awesome! I like that one more each time I listen closely.
  17. I agree with that solid advice. . . . And yet, I sort of disagree, because if you have those dollars the Holy Ghost box. . . well it's such a great investment, the book (and I mean BOOK) that comes with it, the interviews, the copious material. . . . I know ME and in your shoes I'd grab the box set and then concentrate on getting his other material. . . chronologically. Because I think if you get the box, and already loving those two releases you have, you'll be getting it all over time.
  18. I hear a real sincerity in those late sides, and I respond to it. I believe he really wanted to get "the message" across and at least on an emotional level I think he did, I feel communicated to emotionally by these albums. They fit into the entire work I feel, I don't think they HAD to have had outside influences to come to fruition, I feel his investment within them. Or I'm imagining it all, and enjoying the fantasy.
  19. Yo, that would be massive! I'd rather just see Columbia reissues of the remaining not on cd. Time to play some Brubeck!
  20. Supposed to be the coldest night ever this year tonight. If we get sleet it's going to shut down half the city. (They're wimps here with ice.) Bring it on!
  21. I agree with Al. Well I don't. There are so many versions of this tune. . . this is not one of my favorite ones. But . . . you go guys!
  22. And the new RVG sounds pretty darned good! (Especially compared to the Mosaic).
  23. Guy, In your shoes, there I would be.
