  1. I'd rather not talk about those too much. . . . -_- Just mean concert recordings, radio broadcast recordings, etc. There have been several really good Live at Lincoln Center broadcasts the last few years, as well as a few killer BBC shows, etc. I would definitely consider him as part of a tradition that contains Ellington and Monk! I love the calmness at the core of both the man and the work.
  2. Man, the material on the Weston is so so good. I'd be glad if it was going low and away, that wold mean so many people with that great music! As time goes by I get more and more a fan of Weston's work. . . . I think I have all the official and a lot of the unofficial recordings! Long may he reign!
  3. Oh you're certainly welcome, a wonderful resource!
  4. I wish they would make a Bond movie that. . . wasn't a Bond movie and was maybe a realistic interpretation of one of Fleming's books!
  5. That is a partial title of a website that reproduces some wonderful vintage lp covers in good scans: http://www.gokudo.co.jp/Record/BlueNote1/ Boy are you in for a TREAT!

    Barney Wilen

I also have this as "Movie Themes from France" on Timeless, and it's wonderful! Grab it if you can!
  7. I hear ya! I think Waters would be a good vehicle. . . but. . . I remember reading here that there were Mosaic plans for "seventies Hutcherson Blue Notes" and I would find it hard to believe this one wouldn't be included in their plans. If they plan it, it's likely EMI isn't going to have another American company lease it. . . Not impossible, but unlikely.
  8. Most certainly was not Lon!
  9. What he said. Here's hoping someone revisits those tapes and gets it right. RVG I hope! (Most likely it will be McMaster for a Mosaic Select).
  10. Thanks. I really like starting my day off with a good laugh! Got a good one out of this thread!
  11. Flurin describes this material well! I've acquired the whole of the Dawn releases on Blue Moon and they have a definite sort of "house sound" to them, and these compilation lps continue that "Dawn sound and feel." Some real gems in there!
  12. Probably Ellington yes, Mingus no. . . .
  13. I actually like Jackie Paris more and more as time goes by. . . .
  14. No Hank, but Louis Jordan!
  15. No wonder he doesn't sing on that album then! (It's really great; I've never heard "I'm Entitled to You" I don't think).
  16. That Sony two cd set sounds quite fine. A bit bright, but not to a real fault.
  17. Congrats on having it at last!
  18. I don't mind it at all. Never think about mishaps. Believe me I think crossing the main intersection by my house on foot which I do several times a day is so much more dangerous. . . . All those bleepin' dodos in their SUVs yapping on cellphones!
  19. Many more happy returns!
  20. Many many more happy ones!
  21. Many more happy ones! Here's to many hours in the sweet spot!
  22. I guess you folk prefer THIS Jackson cover!
  23. That is a GREAT Duke dvd!
