  1. Columbia Small Group Swing Sessions, the Braff sessions.
  2. Duke's Blues in Orbit is worth grabbing before it goes away!
  3. I hear he's preparing for his testimony in Skipper's case. Apparently Libby didn't actually talk to him either!
  4. Louis Armstrong plays W. C. Handy My favorite SACD!
  5. jazzbo

    Donald Byrd "KOFI"

I agree with these two gentlemen about the quality of the session, and think Daniel is correct about the reason it is little-talked up.
  6. Huh! Those pale in comparison to. . . . Ah, who'm I kidding!
  7. Great choice! That is a killer reissue!
  8. Cool! I like Attica Blues a lot. . . it really brings back a period of my life to me vividly!
  9. Next up for me is the Charles Lloyd. . . . Mainly for Geri.
  10. You'll like these. I see they have the Shepp "Juju" too which if you don't have. . . you might want to consider.
  11. G. A., I have an imported version of the Mingus for sale for just one dollar more than the yourmusic price was. . . .
  12. I'm with Jim on both of these. Really good Impulses.
  13. Jerry's probably too pissed off about the wrangle over his guitars to think about it. . . .
  14. Mine too! Been that way since Sunday.
  15. I've had this set since it was released, and one of the discs by itself for a few years before that. I really enjoy it for the most part. I think you'll like the one you passed over. .. though it's probably the one you'll like the least (just a guess).
  16. I'd like it if your prediction came true! A Paris set would be great! Anyone think we'll see the Fillmore set today? I'm sweating bullets becuase a week ago my credit card account got all snafu'd and it's supposed to be fixed, but I just know that the universe may conspire to make this a problem for me and my pre-ordered set! I think it's due to be released today. . . and anyone that ordered it with express shipping should receive it today. . . .
  17. I've seen some remarkable playing from Fountain, Havens and Dick Cathcart on the Welk show!
  18. Yes, the lp. I actually like the quartet material fine. . . which is on that cd. Thanks for the information on the layout of the lp.
  19. Sorry, spelling got me there. I have heard Morrison on studio stuff from 1976. . .(Unknown Sessions Vol. 2 I think) the music was moving towards the song structure that came after the retirement. . . Morrison did okay, but really didn't make an impression on my memory!
  20. Bartz and Liebman are my favorites. . . must say. And on those rare occasions when there was tenor from Lieberman or Grossman (apparently often edited out of any official release) to be heard it was really nice! Bartz was my favorite soprano saxohponist of the batch.
  21. I can't find it right now, but I've seen a scan of a Thelonious Monk lp on Fontana called "Far Out" (I think) that was very similar. . . .
  22. So glad to hear you are all safe!
  23. I guess I like it more. I like his political works. . . it is of its time and yet also seems timely almost any now. And I like the chanting and buildups and don't think they go on too long at all. I wish they would put it out as a domestic cd as well. . . . The Impulses they put out now in the LP By Request series (or whatever it is) sure are nice . . . .
  24. What about the Bernstein and Brubeck one (not sure of the exact title?) That would be cool to hear.
