  1. Pretty darn good preorder price at cduniverse too! 48.99! Complete Norman Granz Jam Sessions
  2. Yes, it's a very nice cd, that Bush Dance, been enjoying the lp for some time. That is sort of how Griff has been doing stuff the last two and a half decades or more, playing around with the structure and the form and playing his butt off. The man is a world treasure, he's been true to his muse and a solid artist for so long! Long may he reign!
  3. Does look like required reading for you. Hope you're not disappointed.
  4. Very cool, DSD sound on this, nice notes, this is a great set that I will be savoring the rest of this week!
  5. You're welcome. I'm still slowly savoring the Pagel's book, and nearing the end . . . my one caveat and nit to pick about this one is that there isn't much specifically about Thomas in it! But I'm learning some about John and Iraneus that I didn't know as fully before. Interesting read!
  6. I think I have five Neatworks, two Eddie Condons, three Basies. Very nice combination!
  7. There are some interesting sessions and segments here, and a really nice booklet, but if you have to miss one you can miss this one and not feel too badly. . . (my two cents).
  8. I think a safe answer is. . .no more than twenty-seven. . . . Oh, a GROWN man! No more than thirty-seven. . . .
  9. Yes, that Billy Banks/Jack Bland stuff is great!
  10. I don't have or keep precise counts!
  11. I have several hundred Classics.
  12. I have all the volumes in the Collector's Classics series with J. R. T. Davies remastering and treasure them! Red was one of a kind!
  13. Yes, those Gil Evans were nice to have come out, I hadn't gotten one of them befor the CCs arrived. I would love remastered versions of those by Addey or RVG.
  14. I'm deprived! I don't have ANY cartoon dvd box sets! Not surprising. I've never been much into cartoons, even as a lad. Comic books is another story. . . .
  15. Just bought this! Going to give it to my trumpeter friend Dave for doing some housesitting for me. . . I think. . . I may just keep it for myself!
  16. I don't think I ever heard anything besides "These Boots. . . ." Can't say I was ever inspired to! And no, it's not just because of her Dad.
  17. Alberty Ayler, Goin' Home, on Black Lion. Never saw it anywhere else, got it for about ten bucks total on ebay, not bad for a first experience. After that it was probably some NOS vacuum tubes. . . .6922 types from Siemens.
  18. A friend of mine in Ohio used to look for cheap "fender flappers" (cars that had rusted out from the winter salts from the bottom up) with excellent hoods and dashboards. His take was if you look out over the wheel and see the hood all nice and new looking and a nice new looking dashboard. . . it was a nice new looking car!
  19. Come on NEXT WEEK! Or rather NEXT WEEKEND. . . my copy may have arrived by the weekend of Sunday the 10th?
  20. I'll agree with Big Wheel, and actually I think my favorite of the final half of his career is the "Confirmation" box set. . . Just beautiful beautiful stuff.
  21. I have a Japanese stereo cd of Angel Eyes. . . . So glad that I do!
  22. David, glad you checked in and all is well. Nice avatar too, I always dig that painting (which you showed me first!)
  23. Details: Disc One: Eye of the Hurricane, 9:51 Teardrop, 10:23 Domo, 12:10 Para Oriente, 7:33 Pee Wee, 8:13 Total time: 54:49 (intros by Herbie are not included in song times) Disc Two: One of Another Kind, 21:05 Fragile, 9:06 Stella By Starlight / On Green Dolphin Street, 7:11 Total time: 41:13 (intros by Herbie are not included in song times)
  24. Horace couldn't think of anything polite to say about their fashion sense. . . .
  25. As far as I know/can tell it was meant to be stereo. It's in the Konitz/Marsh/Tristano Mosaic. Beautiful sound!
