  1. MIles Davis “Someday My Prince will Come” Sony Blu-Spec CD2, stereo version 1000×1000 164 KB I have a handful of versions of this great album, and they all sound great. This Blu-Spec CD2 from last year is sounding great this morning.
  2. I forgot how good this one is! With Thad Jones and Booker Ervin. Lambert, Hendricks and Bavan “Havin’ a Ball at the Village Gate” cd
  3. Starting off a “cold again darn it” morning with some smooth funk from a re-emergent 'seventies organist. A nice come back! Ronnie Foster “Reboot” Blue Note cd

  6. Charles Lloyd “The Sky Will Still Be There Tomorrow” Blue Note Records disc 1
  7. Yes, from the US tour. Right now Charles Mingus “Incarnations” Candid cd This was released at first as an RSD LP and then last week luckily it was released as a great sounding cd. Features one previously unreleased track from a 1960 session.
  8. Betty Carter with Geri Allen “Love Notes” Jazz Door cd An unofficial cd that I had not known of til last week. New to me Betty Carter. . . a great thing. Bass – Dave Holland Drums – Jack DeJohnette Piano – Geri Allen Vocals – Betty Carter Recorded live in the U.S.A. during the world tour 1993
  9. John Coltrane “Crescent” Impulse! – IMP-200 1997 limited edition reissue Been futzing with my Vinyl and moved it from running into the DSD DAC via HDMI to balanced analog out from the phono preamp into the ZBIT and into the SEWE300B (all Decware components except the PS Audio NuWave Phono Converter). Sounds very similar actually, but this removdes the ZROCK2 from the chain and it could use a bit of its help, or more than a bit. I have a ZROCK3 on order that will give me an extra ZROCK. . . I’m about #58 on the “accelerated list.” 599×592 133 KB
  10. Well, it might have been kind of.
  11. I'll recommend the Peter Cook book, in part because he used previously undisclosed information from an interview I did with Michael Cuscuna.
  12. Yes, it's a very nicely arranged and performed--and recorded--disc.
  13. Wayne Escoffrey “Like Minds” Smoke Sessions cd 569×569 52.8 KB followed by Kenny Burrell “Be Yourself” High Note cd
  14. Tom Harrell “Light On” High Note cd 600×600 92.5 KB
  15. Another Mark Masters Ensemble disc that I pulled from the shelves, “Blue Skylight” which interprets the work of both Charles Mingus and Gerry Mulligan, alternating a composition by each on the disc. A great listen! Gary Foster: alto saxophone; Jerry Pinter: tenor and soprano saxophones; Gene Cipriano: tenor saxophone (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11); Adam Schroeder: baritone saxophone (2; 4; 6; 8; 10, 11); Ron Stout: trumpet (1, 3, 5, 7, 9); Les Benedict: trombone (1,3,5,7,9); Ed Czach: piano; Putter Smith: bass; Kendall Kay: drums. 16. Duke Ellington “Midnight in Paris” HDTT cdr of a Columbia reel-to-reel This one grows on me over the years. I suspect a high Strayhorn arranging content on this one. . . though Duke may have loved Paris as Billy and he may have done quite a few of the arrangements. Great Columbia sound!
  17. “Masters & Baron Meet Blanton & Webster,” Mark Masters Ensemble Man, great music and sound.
  18. Tina Brooks “True Blue” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD
  19. Ronnie Foster “The Two Headed Freep” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD

  23. A very interesting concert featuring the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim. Carlos and Veloso perform together and separately. Jacques Morelenbaum and Eduardo Lages handled the arrangements and orchestration. “Roberto Carlos E Caetano Veloso E A Musica De Tom Jobim”
  24. Freddie Cole “I’m not my Brother, I’m Me” High Note cd
