  1. Theo Hill “Reality Check” cd I bought this because Joel Ross was here on vibes. Nice quartet session.
  2. Another release from 1978. . . quite different. Charles Mingus “Something Like a Bird” Atlantic cd from the “Changes” box set.
  3. Bob Dylan "LIve at Budokan" Sony Blu-Spec CD2, disc 1 Thie Budokan concerts expanded is the next deluxe Dylan set to come in October so I wanted to revisit this release which is certainly far from my favorite Dylan to see if I am interested in this expensive upcoming set. Not really. I admit I like listening to this more than I have in the past because my system sounds os much better. . .but. . .what I have is enough.
  4. Ahmad Jamal “The Complete Ahmad Jamal Trio Argo Sessions 1956-1962” discs V and V! The mastering on this set excels that of any LP or cd of this material I have had before. The dynamics that Jamal plays with so skillfully are presented as accurately as the dynamics on almost any other recordings I have. Lovely sound that breathes and swings.
  5. I was going to recommend the Vegh Quartet work. I have a pretty limited experience along these lines, but those always impressed me.
  6. Starting the day off with some Morelenbaum. Jacques Morelenbaum CELLOSAM3ATRIO “Saudade do Futuro–Futuro da Saudade”
  7. I own them all. Perhaps my favorite trio.
  8. Fresh Sounds has done this as well. I think Ace Records owns this material and it would be great if they did this.
  9. Gabriel Mervine “Live at Nocturne” Octave Records SACD
  10. Special guests! Duke Ellington and his Orchestra “Live at Newport 1958” Columbia 2 cd set, disc 2
  11. Coleman Hawkins "The Hawk Swings" Crown Records/Boplicity cd What a band! Coleman Hawkins – tenor saxophone Thad Jones – trumpet Eddie Costa – piano, vibraphone George Duvivier – bass Osie Johnson – drums
  12. John Oswald/Grateful Dead “Grayfolded” disc 1 “Transitive Axis.” About a hundred versions of “Dark Star” folded together. A fascinating disc, one of two.
  13. Artemis “Artemis”. Blue Note cd
  14. Duke Eliington “Private Collection Vol. 3” These Private Collection discs have some very interesting music.
  15. A five second google search.
  16. This was a hot band that tour. SFJazz Collective “Music by Stevie Wonder and new Compositions” disc 3
  17. Guinga “Noturno Copacabano” Velas cd Guinga’s great guitar playing with great horn playing as well.
  18. Up early with Fiona the dachshund, this is lulling us into a mellow morning. Mario Adnet “Amazonia–Na Trilha Da Floresta” Adventure Music cd Orchestral “Forest Trails” produced and arranged by Mario Adnet, guitarist. Beatiful morning sounds.
  19. Kenny Wheeler "Gnu High" ECM cd Kenny Wheeler - flugelhorn Keith Jarrett - piano Dave Holland - bass Jack DeJohnette - drums
  20. Grateful Dead “From the Mars Hotel” Mobile Fidelity Lab SACD
  21. I could wish this concert was better recorded, but I’m happy that it sounds better on this Octave/Mack Records cd than an earlier cd and the LP i had–due I bet in large part to the use of the Plangent Process. I think this is the last live concert of Garner’s recorded and released. And it sure is a good one. Erroll Garner “The Campus Concert”
  22. Count Basie's first recording for Pablo Records, a jam that is interesting in that Irving Ashby of Nat Cole Trio fame is on board. Great horn players too. And the Count plays organ as well as piano. Count Basie - organ, piano Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis - tenor saxophone Zoot Sims J.J. Johnson - trombone Harry "Sweets" Edison - trumpet Irving Ashby - guitar Ray Brown - double bass Louie Bellson - drums
  23. Duke Ellington “The Afro-Eurasian Eclipse” OJC cd Up way too early but awake now!
  24. Jethro Tull “The Broadsword and the Beast” Steven Wilson remix
