  1. disc 5 Bob Dylan "The Bootleg Series Vol. 14: More Blood, More Tracks" Some incredible song-writing and singing on this set and this disc.
  2. "Carlos Santana & Buddy Miles Live!" Quad SACD (stereo layer). This was a party record for me back in the days. (Not always requested or appreciated by others!) The stereo layer sounds amazing to me.
  3. Got our first substantial snowfall last night (first snowfall was Monday night) and lost power for a few minutes and had no cable or internet from 6 a.m. til noon. Glad it came back! First I listened to: Billie Holiday "Lady Sings the Blues" Universal SHM-CD 2022 This one really works well as an "album." I love Billie. My dog sank into a deep sleep the moment I put her on. . .almost every time. I think that means she loves her too. Then: "Lee Wiley Sings the Songs of George Gershwin and Cole Porter" . . . I have neglected revisiting Lee Wiley for too long. Finally, right now: Joe Henderson "Mode for Joe" Universal Japan SHM-CD 2022. This is a repressing of the fabled SHM-CD that had an alternate totally new until the Mosaic set came out. Got this and the Billie Holiday in a nice box from cdJapan yesterday.
  4. Hank Mobley "Work Out" Universal Blue Note Japan SHM-CD UCCU-5931
  5. "The Complete Vee Jay Lee Morgan-Wayne Shorter Studio Sessions" Mosaic Records box set, disc 3 Followed by Olivia Biyington "Cancao Do Amor Demais: Canta Tom & Vinicius"
  6. Kenny Burrell and the Jazz Legacy All Stars "Live at the Blue Note" Great sound on this one. It's like you're among the band. Followed by Grateful Dead, Madison Square Garden, September 20, 1982, disc 3
  7. The Vow, season 2 episode 1
  8. I've missed my Dad for nearly six months now. He was the most intelligent and wise person I've ever known and I managed to become a good son to him but also a good friend the last nine years. I still talk to him everyday as I had done these last years; I still think of him with happiness. What a man!
  9. I now have 11 volumes of Svensk Jazzhistoria by Caprice Records cd sets. Fantastic series!!
  10. "The Complete Vee Jay Lee Morgan-Wayne Shorter Sessions" disc 2 These VeeJay jazz sessions (and the Wynton Kelly and Paul Chambers ones as well) are so interesting as the production and recording and general "vibe" are distinct, differing from Blue Note (mostly) and other labels work by these cats. A nice change of pace.
  11. Well, it's Friday. I'm due for some Jimi.
  12. I've had them all for a long long time and I like them all, even "With Horns," but this one is the one that I really love. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Moods And it's not on Prestige, but ought to be.
  13. Grateful Dead, Madison Square Garden, September 20, 1982, disc 2 From this box set:
  14. Harry Skoler "Living in Sound--The Music of Charles Mingus" As good as you would think it is.
  15. "The Complete Vee Jay Lee Morgan-Wayne Shorter Sessions" disc 1 Lots of alternates back to back but I dig this box set and am re-visiting it with enjoyment.
  16. And Teo put together something intriguing.
  17. Antonio Carlos Jobim "Tom Canta Vinicius – Ao Vivo" https://i.pinimg.com/originals/53/ac/79/53ac7971c6d3ba742db1887ca3e9913e.jpg Cello – Jaques Morelenbaum Flute, Vocals – Danilo Caymmi Piano, Vocals – Tom Jobim Vocals – Paula Morelenbaum Vocals, Acoustic Guitar– Paulo Jobim
  18. "The Complete Columbia J.J. Johnson Small Group Sessions" Mosaic Records disc II
  19. All the cool kids are talking about this one so I am joining in. I'm going to vote for Miles!
  20. Sounds fine to me. Not brickwalled.
  21. Louis Gasca "Collage" Fantasy/Beat Goes Public cd Huge personnel on this one! Some great trumpeting from Gasca.
  22. Pretty cool engineering by RVG--the Savoy/Denon cd I have sounds fantastic. This morning: Sun Ra "Universe in Blue" Cosmic Myth Records cd 2022 A lot of cool Sun Ra organ. He gets some very neat sounds on this blues album. My favorite the organ sounds like a cross between a B3 and a Clavinette. Sound is nicely live and dynamic and generally quite good. On the vocal number the horns backing the singer are very under-recorded--you have to really listen for them. But even that is kind of cool. 1972--the bonus material is from Slug's, the original release is purported to be from Slugs. Followed by 3/10/81, disc 3 from this set The Grateful Dead: In and Out of the Garden: Madison Square Garden ’81, ’82, ’83
  23. I had been digesting the previous Miles releases when "On the Corner" was released and picked it up immediately and played it over and over and over. I was fascinated with this release, still am. I was alone in my small town group of friends in enjoying anything other than what was played on the big radio station WMMS. In college this wasn't played much beyond my stereo but I still played it and sank into a trance listening more than not. I still am fascinated with this album. I listen to the Mobile Fidelity SACD these days. . .which is a bit clearler sounding than my old LP. It's an amazing construction.
  24. Kalia Vandever "Regrowth"
