  2. The first Santana release, this time the Mobile Fidelity Labs SACD version (last time was the new SACD/stereo and quad version from Japan). This Mobile Fidelity version is definitely warmer and "thicker" sounding, the Japanese Sony is far more lively sounding. Both are great listens.
  3. The Complete Freddie Hubbard Blue Note & Impulse '60s Studio Sessions, disc 4 Reissues the Impulse album "The Artistry of Freddie Hubbard" and the Blue Note album "Here to Stay."
  4. Miles Davis Bootleg Series Vol. 7 "That's What Happened, 1982-1985" Blu-Spec CD2 disc 1, again Enjoying disc 1 of this set so much more than I expected that I am playing it again. Mine is the Blu-Spec CD2 version from Japan that does not come in a clam-shell box as the US does, but in a 3 cd Fat Boy jewel case with a paper outer sleeve, closer to the format of the other series releases. Sound is very good.
  5. I'm a Dead fan. Became disillusioned when the Godchaux duo left and got off the bus. Got back on early this century when it clicked with me again and began collecting the official releases from '66 to '78 or so. Some great music to listen to!
  6. John Coltrane "Blue Train--the Complete Masters" Blue Note Japan SHM-SACD This Japanese SHM-SACD sound pretty darned good. What might set it apart from a number of other issues is the stereo separation and the depth of the soundfield.
  7. This is in some ways a strange box set, but I like it. Disc1
  8. The Complete Freddie Hubbard Blue Note & Impulse '60s Studio Sessions, disc 3
  9. Ben Thomas "Triskaidekaphobia" Origin cd https://notesbyben.com/nbbb/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/160513_0578.jpg I think anyone who likes Bobby Hutcherson's albums would like Ben's.
  10. Right now. . . as far as Brazilian jazz this has it all. All it is missing is somehow Tom Jobim beaming down from the cosmos to contribute. Duduka Da Fonseca, Helio Alves, featuring Maucha Adnet "Samba Jazz and Jobim"
  11. Mose Allison "Ramblin' with Mose Allison" Prestige/OJC cd This is a good one. I think Nat Cole would have chuckled over the title.
  12. "The Many Angles of John Letman" Bethlehem/Solid Records Japan cd I really dig this one. Mainstream swing. . .Kenny is great here on guitar.
  13. "Svensk Jazzhistoria Vol. 11 - Swedish Jazz History 1970 - 1979 - Jazz Cosmopolit" disc 2 This series of box sets is a great time machine journey through the Swedish jazz scene. And this final one shows that in six or seven decades of jazz in Sweden has born very tasty fruit. 2-1 Umeå Big Band & Benny Bailey– Love For Sale 4:38 2-2 Alice Babs & Nils Lindberg– There's Something About Me 6:03 2-3 Gugge Hedrenius Big Blues Band– Four Five Six 5:16 2-4 Jan Garbarek - Bobo Stenson Quartet– Witchi-Tai-To 4:27 2-5 Lasse Werner Och Hans Vänner* = Lasse Werner And His Friends*– Sergel + Ryska Snuvan/Russian Cold 7:52 2-6 Göteborgs Musikkvartett– Ej Budze Vojna Budze 2:56 2-7 Björn Alkes Kvartett– Blues För Ann-Katrin 5:38 2-8 Solar Plexus (9)– Mercy, Mercy, Mercy 8:15 2-9 Mount Everest– Spirits 2:45 2-10 Åke Johansson Trio– Monday Date 4:38 2-11 Monica Zetterlund & Steve Kuhn– If You Could See Me Now 2:35 2-12 Eje Thelin Group– Time 7:29 2-13 Iskra– Solsken Över Ångermanälven 2:34 2-14 Ann Kristin Hedmark & Sandvik Big Band*– Blue Eye 4:30 2-15 Spjärnsvallet– Pojkarna 3:00 2-16 Kornet– Sju Hungriga År / Seven Hungry Years 4:47 2-17 Musikteatergruppen Oktober– Gå Med I Kvintcirkeln / Join The Circle Of Fifths
  14. Nucleus "Live at the BBC" disc 1
  15. Disc 2. Half of "Goin' Up" and all of "Hub Cap." Great sound, rich and flowing.
  16. Just got my set and am listening to disc 1. Sound is very good.
  17. Disc 1. Sound is really good.
  18. Good on you. Right now
  19. Miles Davis "Complete Live at the Plugged Nickel" Sony Teo Macero Edited Edition disc 3
  20. Greg Osby "Further Ado" Blue Note cd As my system has improved I've been able to enjoy some discs better than ever before. This is one of them.
  21. I'm not going out of my way . . . she hasn't moved me that much.
  22. Factoring in shipping when included in an order of five other discs, cdjapan becomes cheaper for me than Dusty or Amazon (Amazon by a few dollars). So I've gone that route. I wish there weren't always a handful of discs I want from cdjapan.
  23. For me she's far from a favorite, but a good singer.
  24. Sue Raney "Songs for a Raney Day" TOCJ SuperBit Jazz Classics lp facsimile cd from Japan Capitol Records of this early stereo age sound fabulous. This cd presents that sound very well. It's only the second Raney that I have. . .I don't really collect her but will pick one up if it shows up in my path.
