  1. Been doing a lot of "comparative" listening this week, listening to different editions of the same title to decide which to keep and which to cull from the collection. Some fun, some tedium. Today I didn't get to do any listening and then all of a sudden my wife said "I want to hear some Nat King Cole." Well my favorite Cole is the trio stuff but I know she doesn't like that, so I put on this "Pure Audio" Blu-ray Audio and she's digging it--big band stuff with that big baritone voice. . . . Realy nice 24/192 sound as well. Nat King Cole, Universal "Pure Audio" Blu-ray Audio disc, "The Extraordinary" Nat King Cole.
  2. Well I have heard a certain Mr. Coleman called "the Hawk."
  3. Pee Wee Russell and Woody Shaw are both favorite jazz names of mine.
  4. Lee-Way 1960 Blue Note The Sidewinder 1964 Blue Note Search for the New Land 1964 (Release 1966) Blue Note Tom Cat 1964 (Release 1980) Blue Note The Rumproller 1965 Blue Note The Gigolo 1968 Blue Note Cornbread 1967 Blue Note Infinity 1965 Blue Note Delightfulee 1966 Blue Note Charisma 1966 Blue Note The Rajah 1966 Blue Note Standards 1967 Blue Note Sonic Boom 1967 Blue Note The Procrastinator 1967/1969 (Release 1978) Blue Note The Sixth Sense 1967 Blue Note Taru 1968 Blue Note Caramba! 1968 Blue Note My Dad would say "1960 is the last year of at the 'fifties it's not the 'sixties" but most people would probably include LeeWay as one of the albums. That's a lot of albums! Maybe 9 cds or more in a box set?
  5. Some discussion in this thread:
  6. It took a while, but finally my prepaid preorder was found and my copy will be shipping soon. Looking forward to it! But I have plenty to listen to til it arrives! My Dad's Xmas copy of the Savory set arrived last week. He's going to have fun with it, his first Mosaic.
  7. Finally got a response after reaching out to Scott via Facebook; He looked into it and sent me this reply: We’re experiencing troubles with our ordering system and I was out most of the day on Friday. We hope to get this out sometime this week. So hopefully we'll both be getting ours soon.
  8. Received, thanks. "Go" is sold.
  9. Jimi Hendrix "Songs for Groovy Children" box set of 69/70 New Year's shows released Friday. Disc 2. Yes, they edited out stuff. Yes, there's a handful of tracks omitted. But hell yeah, after decades these are officially out there and for about 45 bucks. As "Band of Gypsys" is my favorite Hendrix, this is a real joy!
  10. Two Blue Note Japan 24 bit by RVG LP facsimile cds. Horace Silver "The Stylings of Silver" Sonny Rollins "A Night At the Village Vanguard, Vol.1"
  11. Hank Mobley "Dippin'" Blue Note Japan 24 bit by RVG lp facsimile edition. Just right for right now.
  12. The only news about a Vol. 7 I have heard is that a set surrounding "Star People" material was proposed and probably worked on, then shelved, and as a result it was believed the series was canceled. Now there is news it is not canceled, and it's not certain to me if that set is now a "go" again or not. We are not likely to see a Vol. 7 anytime soon (just my guess, but I strongly "guess" that).
  13. There's a long thread on the Hoffman forum with many speculations about missing tracks and I haven't digested it all and I'm no longer interested in these sort of details to be honest. Best guess from the experts on that thread is that there are some tunes that were not recorded officially with the others, and do appear on bootlegs.
  14. I know, you decided to spend elsewhere. Decware ended my search for amplification as far as a design and company goes, I climbed the ladder of their products and I'm very happy. And no audio manufacturer has been better with customer support and communication in my experience. I took a leap of faith in 1997 that I am very glad I did. This is the only real sale Decware has during a year. It is a good deal, but it does almost double the "waiting time" for a product during the winter and spring months. . . because they receive a heavy response.
  15. Updated original post with those remaining for sale.
  16. Sorry, thought it mentioned it. Decware High Fidelity Engineering. I've used their products for preampfification, amplification and speakers for over 20 years. www.decware.com
  17. Been looking forward to this, though I know there are missing tracks and likely edited ones as well. Should be a wonderful box set.
  18. Possibly of interest to some. Decware High Fidelity Engineering. www.decware.com Save 10% on your entire on-line purchase! BLACKFRIDAY3 Valid ONLY from midnight on 11/28/19 to midnight on 11/29/19 Offer applies to online purchases only. To use the code, just type it into the coupon box of the shopping cart and hit re-calculate to see it applied to your total. NOTE: The code will only work during the specified 24 hour period. The clock is set by Eastern Standard Time Zone. This is a one day only sale. Regrettably, since we have such a long waiting list for amplifiers it is impossible for us to apply this coupon to existing orders. If you have an item on order that we haven't pulled parts for yet, you can cancel it and place a new order on Black Friday with the coupon at the expense of losing your spot in line. Also, of note - this is the second year we have had a 10% off everything sale on Black Friday. Last year we sold 81 amplifiers and or pairs of speakers during that 24 hour period. Our average build sheet ranges between 50 and 100 orders at any given time, with a 9 to12 week average wait. Last year our list was at about 80 prior to the sale. The next day it was at 160. That means that the people who used the coupon first thing in the morning had close to a 12 week wait, while people who used the coupon last thing that evening had a 22 week wait. All orders are entered by the date and time of day the order was placed.
  19. The Japanese however don't market for the world, just their nation. So it's hard to damn them for certain intentions when they had no such.
  20. The Japanese have their own market, and they understand and supply it well, without any concern for needs or wants outside their borders for the most part. They'll sell every one they manufacture and that's ultimately what it's about. I have heard versions outside the Membrane box that sound better than same items within the box so I don't think it's totally fruitless to remaster the series--someone might find a better version of a favorite session and there's an element of the collecting body that will be happy with that.
  21. Yes, I think mine came sealed, it was years ago, and only that insert. So happy to have this.
  22. My copy of "Watkins at Large" is not from the Superbit Jazz Series but is an "RVG Special Edition" mini-lp release, and it has an insert, but not a Transition booklet.
  23. Had just gotten up and absorbed a few coffee fumes.
  24. Yes, I didn't always prefer the sound of the JRVGs, but as my system has evolved, and become more flexible, revisiting the JRVGs I was really impressed with their sound, and I love their packaging. So I have been buying these when I can find them less than 20 dollars, and have decided I don't need to keep other copies of the same title when I have duplicates. (I also bought and just received that Superbit Jazz Classics version of "Byrd's Eye View" you had pointed out remastered by RVG--sounds wonderful). "Total Eclipse" does sound a bit better In this new reissue.
  25. About three times Japan has released 2 cd sets that have lots of breakdowns and alternates of the Blakey material. . . and I enjoy these, all of these sessions are worth hearing for the reasons Larry mentions. I've enjoyed the core material for about 30 years. I really like "Winner's Circle". . . some really nice music there.
