  1. Thanks John! Retirement is great. . . but it's a lousy way to earn money!
  2. THANKS! 61 is good so far!
  3. Thanks gentlemen! I had a nice one just chilling with the new wiener dog and my wonderful wife. . . and tonight a nice dinner at a great restaurant planned. Nice to be retired and getting older gracefully. . . .
  4. Have a great day Shawn!
  5. Another year without Pops but we will always have his spirit! Happy Birthday Gates!
  6. I love this series and am glad we are getting near the end, three more volumes after this one. I actually have the remaining material thanks to a generous board member or three, but I enjoy Storyville's presentation and the additional material that they include. I have bought each volume as they came out. Though there was a long pause after Storyville's founder's death, I am so glad this was continued and continues.
  7. Yes, I placed an order this morning. . . and it may go down or there may be better marketplace deals to come.
  8. Here's my impressions regarding the Decca sides: there are imo some improvements to the sound from the source cds, but if you are buying the set for improvements of the Decca sides alone I think you'll be a bit disappointed. The Decca tracks that are sourced from non-CD sources do have a certain vividness to them that put them a bit over the others, but the homogeneity of the mastering is quite good from track to track and disc to disc. The Una Mae Carlisle and the Sammy Price and the Commodore sides have never sounded better to me on CD. Also Clef, Mercury, Alladin and Philo sides etc. transferred from disc sound excellent.
  9. Digital reverb and spring reverb are in my experience vary different things!
  10. IMO there's a difference between digital reverb on a pedal and spring reverb on an amp or a head unit like the Fender or Shreyer Audio reverb units. I prefer the latter for the most part for what I do on and with guitars. But it's a personal preference. . . we're all different.
  11. Ok, thanks. I don't often listen to things on youtube, I dislike it, so didn't hear the track. My bad.
  12. i have this as a Savoy cd. . . and I thought it had Tucker on bass and Harewood on drums with Ervin, Phipps and Howell. . . .
  13. No, the solo LP did not come out in the Savoy/Denon series or after that, officially. It was released on cd by Fresh Sound.
  14. I've started watching a parody of "LOST" on TBS called "Wrecked." Pretty entertaining.
  15. And I'd like to say I like the mastering of this disc, and the reason why is no one is talking about the mastering of this disc. It sounds just right to me.
  16. #188 just arrived. FAT booklet. Yay! And odd packaging: a single disc, and two fat boys one with three discs and one with four discs. But I think that was because of the number of tracks to list on the back covers. Will begin listening soon.
  17. You probably have it all. You can easily look these things up. The main difference I see between the two is that the live is included on the cd set. You may only be missing one track or so. I have both. I find that the earlier Savoy/Denon cds that mimic the original LP compilations sound a bit better to me than the two cd set. And the two LP set in question sounds fantastic on my system.
  18. Yes. There's more.
  19. 'S a good one.
  20. I live now in what used to be 'the western reserve' of Connecticut.
  21. Thanks for sharing the news! Great news.
