  1. I think Extensions is a great record, I've been familiar with the recording, and teh reissue is top-notch in every way. Love the sound. Another great reissue. . . three in a row, no filler!
  2. I paid exactly the same price for the Dixon and the Fischer.
  3. My cable was messing up. . .I'll catch it "On Demand." Man I hope this gets renewed. . . . Watched it. Whoa!
  4. Very cool Erik!
  5. I only have one of the APO SACDs so far, "Idle Moments," bought to check out the series. I like it a lot, but then I also like the RVG so go figure. Different takes on the material, but both are enjoyable on my system. I've worked to make my system quite flexible with tonal and gain adjustments and digital filtering and sampling rate adjustments, etc. and I find I can enjoy a wide range of material. I sold my Sony SCD-XA5400ES SACD player last year as I just was not using it much and I needed the audio cash. I still have a Decware modified SACD/DVD changer in my second system that sounded almost as good. I bought a PS Audio PerfectWave Transport and DAC to use in my main system and this duo to me sounds better in Redbook than the Sony did in SACD or Redbook. But in the meantime I found a cache of classical SACDs at a great price and decided to try out a heavily-discounted "100th Anniversary" SACD player from Denon, the DCD-A100. This incredibly well-built player (weighs 34 pounds) has amazed me with its SACD sound, wonderful cd sound as well, and I'm listening to a lot more SACDs than I ever did before. I'll be buying more SACDs as the budget allows; I've ordered the APO "Dippin'" SACD this week. I think the Blue Note SACD I have sounds very good, but it didn't make me run out and buy all of them. Again, I'm a fan of the RVG series, I find many of these sound very good on my system, and I don't worship the mastering of Steve Hoffman. But a nice series. I should try out one of the Impulse SACDs. Anyone interested in SACD playback or looking for a new CD player should consider the Denon DCD-A100. it's 40 percent off at musicdirect.com and though not cheap imo a bargain for what you get. Exquisite build, wonderful SACD and cd sound from 32 bit DACs, and you can access the DACs by coaxial and optical and USB inputs. Very impressive machine that I think was built to be a "loss leader" prestige product. I like SACD most for classical music.
  6. From my brief tenure in the insurance biz last year I learned that to get anything other than liability insurance he would have to use one of the only (the only, Hagerty?) classic automotive insurers. And they can't be cheap. He may have priced it and decided it was more fiscally sound to put money in the bank towards possible repairs than to insure the bike for collision or comprehensive. Most of the regular companies will reluctantly let you say the bike is worth "X" dollars and charge you for it, but there's no real guarantee they'll fork out expensive repair or replacement money. Their books say the bike is practically worth nothing.
  7. Many many HAPPY returns Mark!
  8. My cable was messing up. . .I'll catch it "On Demand." Man I hope this gets renewed. . . .
  9. Yes, that is a trend. But there are still those who want to ride something that doesn't look as if it has a handful of decades of garage dung on it! The one I saw was offered at a car auction, not the best place to sell a bike, but a good place to buy one with less competition.
  10. I saw an absolutely beautiful '39 Knucklehead, fully restored to like new status, go for 23,000 at auction. Surprised me it was that low. People love those engines.
  11. A new season of "Cafe Racer" starts tonight.

  16. Mine shipped yesterday from amazon. Looking forward to it!
  17. Again. . .it's so good!
  18. It was a good episode. I loved Pete getting knocked down a peg or three! I loved the little exchange between Roger and Don, and Don drawing the curtains.
  19. Many many happy happy returns!
  20. Fantastic news Jeff!
  21. I'll at least be watching Good Wife and Mad Men, may be watching The Killing tomorrow. But three good shows one night!
  22. Watched this last night. What an experience! Shows why Joel Dorn said of Kirk: "the late, great, one of a kind miracle, baddest motherfucker ever, Rahsaan Roland Kirk."
  23. It pretty much would have to be.
  24. Would make a great cover for one of ECM's more excitable releases. Actually it would make a great cover for a Texas tenor's date, titled "Blowin' in from Arlington". . . .
  25. Finally bought this on DVD. Wish there were a second season.
