  1. That's a very good DVD.
  2. Never been a Pepsi guy. For me it was Coke or Royal Crown. Now on occasion it's a Mexican Coke or a Blue Sky Cola. Mostly it's sparkling mineral water now.
  3. No, but having worked with some persons like Draper, and knowing some that aspire to be like him, his character really rubs me the wrong way. He's a reminder to me of the sort of "manliness" and "success" I want to be far away from. I watch it in spite of him and have learned to like a few characters such as Roger and Joan more over the years.
  4. The Killing on AMC
  5. Enjoying watching this on disc, has more impact than one episode a week or so on broadcast. Haven't seen the original from Denmark, but thought AMC did a good job adapting this. Season 2 starts April 1.
  6. Yes a great band I've been enjoying for years. The Frog releases are very good, though the Chronogical Classics releases are also quite good, iirc.
  7. I think the very things that make her of lesser interest to jazz guys. . . are strengths for her in the general marketplace. She doesn't suck, which is actually good news for pop music.
  8. She came more into her own style last year with "21". . . I'd recommend trying a track from there. I'm not a big fan, but she's not some record-company-manufactured pop star.
  9. She's a decent singer and song-writer. My GF likes her a lot, and a lot of people do.

    Willie Maiden

Well Willie was pretty darned hip, and may have been a genius. Thanks for sharing.
  11. American capitalism at it's finest!!
  12. Thanks for posting those, a great discovery!
  13. Fringe is coming back Friday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xz1yh6OFZzQ&feature=relmfu
  14. Interesting, as I see no similarity between LOST and The River. The River I think is wildly entertaining in the way that American Horror Story is: completely derivative and throwing in every genre cliche but the kitchen sink, and it's dramatic aspects became very funny. Alcatraz. . . I keep checking in on it and wanting to like it but I just keep getting appalled by the senseless killing after senseless killing, the totally ridiculous concept of Sarah Jones as a detective and Jorge Garcia as a cracker jack historian, and there's nothing appealing about the series at all for me. Looking forward to the return of the Killing; I just got the Blu-ray set of the first season in the mail and am looking forward to spinning it.
  15. Hope it's a wonderful day and many happy happy returns!
  16. Maybe. Jordi Pujol should steal him.
  17. I pre-ordered it from amazon.fr. Not all of this stuff came out on Collectables. Some was Fresh Sounds that I had. They haven't just taken those masterings and put them on cd. What exactly they did do and who did it I don't know, there's no credits at all.
  18. Pretty interesting set. I've listened to five discs. The material I have sounds better here, surprisingly. Packaging is nothing to write home about, but not a big concern for me at least.
  19. As you probably know I really like that show. Right now: Pretty mediocre show. But I must say they did some beautiful filmwork and the Blu-ray looks fantastic.
  20. Jeff, here's hoping you find something soon. Chin up and best of luck.
  21. Yup, as I noted in post 255 "Arriving Somewhere" got me started on Porcupine Tree, and (not in post 255) the "Lamentations" DVD you played me got me started on Opeth. Those concert DVDs really netted the bands some money from me!
  22. I was scorned by a bar fly once. I was already drunk.
  23. I wouldn't say disappointing. . . well maybe I would. His playing on them is great, but the whole isn't as great as his playing is, in my opinion. The one not yet out on cd, "Debut in Blues," is I think the best, but they're all very good, especially for Shaw.
  24. Hey Jeff, I think Shawn's advice is very good. I also think the release "Recordings" might be a good starting point. I myself got started when Shawn played me the DVD "Arriving Somewhere." Somehow the visual element made it all click for me.
