Yes, the Columbia albums were released on cd by Arbors Jazz. His Storyville string date was also out on cd.
  2. Oh man I hated those. I prefer the EH ones to those, I think that they're not bad. What do I know! I think you're a good candidate for these new ones.
  3. I have some of the Decca stuff. I have the Swaggies. Great fun stuff. The Swaggies sound fine if you're interested in sonic matters.
  4. Hope it was a GREAT one! Many more happy happy ones.
  5. It will be interesting to see what they do. I suspect many won't buy any new editions unless they do.
  6. I don't think it's weirder and weirder, but rather what I expect more and more. They have to offer something to tempt people to rebuy. And a second disc being a dvd is a successful format with pop and rock releases. Especially if (as in this case) they don't inflate the cost of the release much at all. This is not being marketed to moldy old jazz lovers.
  7. That's what it was, a combo pack of the cd and dvd that are also availabl separately. The DVD is a making of feature, related to a series about classic rock albums and their creation. The dvd in this new one is supposedly "new."
  8. Me too, both mine are on the way.
  9. Depending on how you want to define a "completed item," there are literally a dozen cds worth they could release, and then they could decide what to do with the rest. Lots of stuff, though some of it would be for collectors only, such as a whole cd of complete takes of an evolving arrangement of "I'm A Man," etc. There is rumor that there will be another box set with different content later this year. Those earlier ones were "definitive," for the Experience Hendrix then under Universal. Now there's a new deal and they'll want to get money from the core catalog for the new partner. No one is definitively saying that they will be any different. There's a lot of hope from the Hoffman community that they be remastered by someone else, with no compression, limiting, etc. I think this unlikely to happen, and I'm happy if Kramer remains the engineer, especially for the mixing and Marino does the mastering. If they were to be a little less loud, wouldn't hurt. We'll see.
  10. I'm not fond of the Morrison and Winter thing. Yeah, tey remastered those some years back. It's not known or told yet whether these are going to be.
  11. Sony Legacy news here: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/12-previously-unreleased-fully-realized-jimi-hendrix-studio-recordings-available-for-the-first-time-ever-on-valleys-of-neptune-81123242.html CD coming in March of material previously not officially released, from Sony Legacy. Also coming out are reissues of "Are You Experienced," "Axis Bold as Love," "Electric Ladyland" with bonus dvds featuring "making of features." Also "First Rays of the New Rising Sun" and "Smash Hits" will be reissued. The "Valleys of Neptune" should be COOL. Link includes track information.
  12. Many happy happy ones Andy!

Skylark is the Brunswyck album available from iTunes. A later album is available on the Audiophile label. Never heard that one, may be quite good.

The Impulse was out years ago in an lp facimile reissue from Japan, a gorgeous remastering in beautiful packaging. Probably going to be hard to find. . . ebay? An album is available on iTunes via the Verve Vault. Not bad album.
  15. Well, welcome fellow Austinite!
  16. Many many more happy happy ones!
  17. If you're not gung ho on Koln I don't think you'll be too crazy about Sun Bear. I'm in the opposite camp: When the Bremen-Lausanne set came out on lp it blew my mind, Koln did me further in, and I'm a huge fan of Jarrett's solo piano concerts. Sun Bear is among the best of the concerts, but if you're bothered by the "singing" or just not that into Koln, skip it.
  18. I got the Wes Montgomery at a reasonable price in a sale from Concord a while back. Seems that it was available from them until recently, which would explain why it hasn't been "blown out" by wholesalers. Maybe if there were sets left that Concord purged from the warehouse we'll see some show up very cheap soon. I think the Bill Evans Riverside went out of print and was never cut out and sent off to distributors. It's been gone for some time, and is a collectible rarity these days. I'd love to have one but I have all the music on separate cds and won't pay huge prices for a set.
  19. Well, I have the box, but ordered two for gifts for next Xmas or so. We'll see if I get them.
  20. There's this thread: The Amy is a great Select, music and sound are killer.
  21. Reminds me. .. I need to go see Jim Cullum's excellent band again soon!
  22. A sort of schizo viewing for me, alternating between: And:
  23. Saw this with a friend who really wanted to see it. Didn't seem like a Holmes movie to me at all. Feh.
  24. R I P Gigi! DAMN!
