  1. So far I only see the Cash. . . and they're not budget titles per se.
  2. The Andorrans, on the Jazz Beat label, have just paired "Extensions" with "Naked City Theme", on cd. . . .
  3. The Lee sides are wonderful, among my favorite of many favorites. There is a scant 32 or so minutes of these transcriptions on cd ("Travelin' Light") and I doubt more will be released even after this set disipates. . . .
  4. Actually. . . you may be surprised that I like the other albums a bit better! I think you'll like this one.
  5. Okay. . .don't hold your breath. I seem to be well-heeled.
  6. Hey, I'm going through adolescence again I think. But that means I have to buy Chicago blues and British blues bands lps to relive it all!
  7. I agree. I like it better than the O'Day.
  8. Wow, two persons who left their mark on the world, deeply. Many happy returns.
  9. I thought it went: "Do you smoke after sex?" "No, I'm afraid of testicular cancer."
  10. Thanks M, that's what a little research showed me too. I'd probably hear a bit of a difference on my system, but I'm not going to pursue them. If they put these out on actual Blu-Ray discs, I'd have to try them out, I love the uncompressed sound and dream about the possible future sound of Blu-Ray music only releases.
  11. Well, I have every Blue Note RVG, and every Prestige RVG too. When I have another version, I always compare. To me these each appear different transfers from the previous editions, as far as I can tell. RVGs seem very polarizing. They sound different to me on different systems. My main system I have sort of toed out the speakers and ramped down the tweeters to make most cds sound better. I can tolerate McMasters on this system, but RVGs really shine. I have omnidirectional drivers which disperse sound throughout the room very well and this really makes a solid and realistic seeming sound and sound stage to the RVGs to my ears. They sound to me as if you're in a row near the front of the stage. I'm very happy with the series. RVGs don't sound that special on my compact Monitor Audio iDeck when I patch in a cd, or in my bedroom system of a Blu-Ray player and Peachtree Aduio Decco DAC/integrated amp and matching speakers. But they sound better than McMasters still to me. I know others hear them differently for likely a plethora of reasons. They seem to be successful series though, and I'm happy about that.
  12. Okay, no more like XRCD and SHM CD. Darn.
  13. Blu-Spec? Are these Blu-Ray releases? Wow. Blu-Ray audio sounds fantastic.

Many Sonys I've bought are not made in Japan. And many Sonys I've bought give me problems in some duplicating machines. There is something to the T-Y claim above I believe. I don't believe it's exclusive, but is a pretty reliable choice.
  15. T. S. Eliot was the poet that most inspired me. . . . My favorite poem though may be this one from William Wordsworth. . . . . The world is too much with us; late and soon, Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers; Little we see in Nature that is ours; We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon! This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon, The winds that will be howling at all hours, And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers, For this, for everything, we are out of tune; It moves us not.--Great God! I'd rather be A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn; So might I, standing on this pleasant lea, Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn; Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea; Or hear old Triton blow his wreathed horn.
  16. Send it back and get the Moncur Select instead, while you can? It's already too late to get the Moncur Select from Mosaic. Other sources probably have it. I've compared the sonics between the RVG and the Select and I'd always prefer to listen to the RVG: warmer, meatier.
  17. JETman has a call in to Cuscuna. . .hopefully he'll call back.
  18. Nah. Man, that choked big ride cymbal on "Ghost Town" really jumps out in a way I don't remember it ever doing before!
  19. Just got my copy in the mail. The error is there as John describes. Possibly some sort of pressing error at the plant? I disagree about the sound, I like the sound. Sound is such a subjective thing, and so system dependent. This does NOT sound like the McMaster transfer was used to me. I haven't compared this RVG to the JRVG but I definitely prefer the sound to the Select version. That's just me.
  20. I'm waiting until just the right south sea tribe adopts me before getting any ink.
  21. That's why I have a special affinity for this one, young fellah. . . .
  22. Many happy returns!
