  1. Hadn't heard about this one, that's good to know...how long has it been out, and is it a continuation/expansion/just what exactly of "Berimbaum"? The cd came out last month in Brazil I believe. . .so far only Dusty Groove has it that I can find. Yes, it's a sort of continuation/expansion of "Berimbaum". . . if you like that one you'll like this one, no doubt. I love them both. They have distinct differences but they're more alike than not.
  2. I couldn't bear not having that Chandler "voice" so I started re-re-re-re-reading "The Long Goodbye."
  3. My favorite record this year is Paula Morelenbaum's follow up to her her excellent "Berimbaum." It's called "Telecoteco". . . . Very cool.
  4. Hope it was a great one! Many many more!
  5. relyles has it right, that collection has been out a while. Good stuff!
  6. Many more happy happy returns of whatever is the correct day! Break out the Tele and PLAY!
  7. I don't think so Chris. That letter from Glaser was fascinating to see. Thanks.
  8. I think Aric may be mistaking "Velvet" for "Violet" as in "Violet for your Furs."
  9. Many more happy returns Don!

    Blue Note

    Oy vey.
  11. I hope it wasn't the 1930s Ellington big-band set that fell through. I've heard from good authority (JETman) that it was the Jamal that was NOT nixed but significantly delayed that freed up the spot for the Armstrong.
  12. Miles has a chance of winning! I think I'll vote for an expanded "Between Nothingness and Eternity" and a lot of Gary Burton on RCA.
  13. Jeremy Steig's "Howlin' for Judy" should be heard. Fascinating, really. . . at least for me. When I think "Flute Album" I think. . . Roland Kirk's "I Talk with the Spirits." Phenomenal.
  14. Spam? I thought he was a talk show host. . .
  15. Right. Sorry, I know that. I meant to say "both of the first two". . . I'll edit that to reflect that.
  16. Just thought I'd point out that both of the first two volumes of Commodore Records on Mosaic are for sale by an individual on the AAJ board for an IMO not insane collective price. . . . Edited to correct, thanks Chuck
  17. Yes, click on an item and you'll be directed to the website (www.concordmusicgroup.com). Also. . .CMG still works as a "promotional code" / coupon to get . . . 20 percent off.
  18. "Voices from the Street," "Eye in the Sky" and "Solar Lottery," are my favorites of the early ones. . . .Several of the other mainstream novels like "Voices" were written in part before Time Out of Joint I believe. . . and I like them ALL.
  19. I was talking with my father about this (we were talking about economic problem times) and he felt that it really didn't end til after WW2.
  20. It's hard to qualify Nexus and explain it. . . . It certainly is as high quality as her previous releases and seems a natural "growth" from its predecessors. If you like those, you'll like this one. . . .
  21. Gemma Arterton is credited as Strawberry Fields in the final credits. A flawed film, yes. I hope there's a next one and that it's better.
  22. That's right, no one is obliged to accept anything. You're sounding like Chauncey Clemhouse again! One doesn't have to pay attention to Bond movies. If one is into the series one has to realize yes, they turned the page. Okay, I watched this movie. I liked it quite a bit. It was too "Bourne" for me, it was slipping into THAT mold rather than creating a new mould for the seires if you ask me. I liked Olga more than Eva, the whole Vesper thing in Casino wasn't that compelling for me. . . and subsequently his bit of obession about it was not as convincing to me. That's just me. By the way, there IS a ridiculously named woman in this one, Ms. Strawberry Fields, right? Anyway, yes this new reboot IS personally more to MY liking than any previous incarnation (I'm pretty "eh"/blah about all the other movies) and is promising. I hope Craig goes on and on in teh role.
