  1. Don't hesitate to do business with Chris! Got my Dark Magus today, really quick and packed to withstand the gorillas.
  2. In my opinion, don't buy the cd, it's no improvement.
  3. I guess I'll just have to settle with the fact that my birthday is the same as Satchmo's. . . . . I really like Three from the Vault.
  4. I like them both. . . possibly the US one a bit more. . .and mainly because i've worked in US offices!
  5. I'm going to email that bastard and tell him to cancel my account while he's at it. Fucking ridiculous! Ah Shawn it's not worth it. . . .He think it's justified. He thinks I've been insulting him. If I had known THAT I would probably quit explaining myself and not resonded to the goads from RonF and Jay. Obviously if he's that insecure then I was indeed asking for it and got it. It won't accomplish anything to cancel your account, so keep it. . . .
  6. Then you have Collectors Classics copies like I do, they had the white center card. They're not Connoisseurs. Pretty damned good session, nice to have as an upcoming RVG!
  7. The Hip-O Select two cd version of Marvin Gaye "In Our Lifetimes?"
  8. Cat food. My seventeen year old tortoiseshell cat is picky and I indulge her with the best. Coffee. I'm addicted to an organic Mexican coffee roasted here in Austin, Ruta Maya. Stereo equipment. I've lived beyond my means in this department, but it has paid off handsomely.
  9. Sony/Columbia could have stopped this release if they noticed/cared. Cool. I was thinking along the line of Granz. . . .I shouldn't have said probably, I was actually thinking "possibly" but wrote probably. You'd think they WOULD HAVE stopped these, or gotten their cut. . . are they just so not paying attention? If anyone noticed (most folks with that info have been fired by the majors) they would have demanded rights, paid "venue rights" and issued it with some payment to the owner of the tapes. It's so hard to believe there's no one around who would know! WIERD. Sad.

  11. You guys quite talking about these sets. I'm continuing to pretend they don't exist. Right now, "The Holy Ghost," the Cellar Club stuff.
  12. Probably wouldn't find anything interesting to read on it. . . I often go to Texas state agency websites/homepages to look for information. Sometimes it's a needle in a haystack I'm after! You'd think they could be better organized.
  13. I leased his mind back to him.
  14. I'm a homeboy. I'm a homebody. . . . But. . . no homepage. I'd probably just get kicked off it. . . .
  15. Well it all depends on how much you listen to the earlier stuff. .. . I listen to this set more often than the Donaldson or Turrentine or Mitchell. . . but I'm weird.
  16. Oh it's early jazz, New Orleans style. . . I don't know how to explain it otherwise. Has lots of ARMSTRONG in it in the trumpeting and singing. I really like it. I'm a big fan of Wingy, and I like this early Prima much more than any later Prima; there are sides with Pee Wee Russell in the band that are very good. Sound is very good; maybe a tad bright, depends on your system.
  17. Tony Bennett Complete Improv Recordings.
  18. Just a little correction: Flight to Jordan was out twice (once as an early cd, one as a "Collectors Classic" reissue) in the US, but never as a Connoisseur. I have all this material. . . but I really like the RVG series, I think the sound, the covers and the layout are better than earlier issues, and I've bought every item in the series so far so I'll be getting these. I wait and get them as cheaply as possible for the most part.
  19. Thanks Chris! (Dark Magus).
  20. Excellent sound.
  21. Thanks James. It's no big loss, the ouster, and just proved to me how much Xricci's management style and presence slowly sucked my enthusiasm for that forum away.
  22. John, MBL: we've discussed this before: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...terey+Armstrong Probably the promotors, not the artists' record labels, own the rights to these, hence the appearance on this new label.
  23. I guess I'll get mine Monday. . . .
  24. No. I'll rephrase it: he made the cd sound fantastic. (My opinion).
