I totally understand. I went through something similar about 3 years ago, when I decided to relisten to all my music. It took about 3 years to get through it all, but it was a wonderful experience, like seeing old friends again. And along the way, I listened to albums I filed away without first listening to them. My next bucket list item is to read all of those liner notes and Mosaic booklets I never got to. Yup, yup, yup. I came to the conclusion that people will never understand, so I don't even go into it. I find that people with more socially-acceptable obsessions don't get challenged in the same way. For example, sports nerds: Is it really that important to know and argue every stat, and go to wildly expensive games, and have the jerseys and memorabilia, and go to fan fests, etc.? Or wine? Don't even get me started on wine. But people get to show off their wine collections, no problem. So screw it; I like what I like - deal with it.

This is the only SY I have. It's a compilation. Per Wikipedia, "the album contains sixteen tracks: the first fifteen were selected by other artists, and the sixteenth is an exclusive new recording by Sonic Youth."

Maybe Smith is jazz in conception, but not jazz in execution. It's hard for me to believe he could improvise using those block chords.

Yes, I saw this listing and it does sound interesting. Burton was on fire in those days. I'm not too sure about Michael Gibbs; I only know him from Burton's ECM release "Seven Songs For Quartet And Chamber Orchestra", and didn't much enjoy it.

As I recall, there were no files in the Macintosh HD/Users/(your name)/Music/iTunes folder after the upgrade. Once I moved my backup .itl file in there, the other files appeared. That's why I thought it might be just a Spotlight issue. I keep my music on an external hard drive. As for the long shot: no. And no manually set permissions. As for worrisome issues: Why would the upgrade delete just one file (the .itl file)? Did it delete other files I'm not aware of? That's why I'm so glad I keep my music on an EHD, because that wasn't touched during the upgrade.

No updates currently waiting. My iTunes is the latest version (12.9.0.164).

The upgrade also lost about 5% of my album art.

No warning; the file copied fine.
