What a great documentary! Brad, thanks for alerting us and giving us a chance to see it. I got in right under the wire: started it yesterday and finished it today. Very greasy. Great interviews. Wish they had a little less about death and cancer, and I wish it would have gone into the mysteries of all the stops and drawbars. But still, it was just great.

TtK, if I had to guess, I think what you're referring to as an "Americana" sound is that a lot of the music played behind early silent films sounds like that. Think of Buster Keaton's "The General."

Excellent!

Listening now to this - Mabern is on fire:

I recently found a vinyl copy of "It's About Time." It's billed as by McCoy Tyner and Jackie McLean, but it seems to me like a Tyner album with McLean as part of the band. Jackie's only on 4 of the 6 tracks, and none are a showcase for him alone. It's a good album, although the SQ is sometimes funky. I think they missed an opportunity to call it McCoy and McLean.

The most obvious answer to me is the Mosaic Desmond box. Accompanied by just guitar, bass, drums; on one date, trombone, bass, drums. Sublime music. Also, be aware that while currently available, the Desmond box is now listed as "running low."

It's a great date.

Mosaics you’re still on the hunt for

Hi, Larry. I've posed a question to you in the thread about the upcoming Mosaic Tristano box: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?/topic/86711-some-previously-unreleased-lennie-tristano-is-in-the-works-now-from-stamford/&do=findComment&comment=1766264 -
Sorry to hear of your loss. Our Golden died of cancer when she was 10. It seems endemic to the breed. But they're always happy.

I always liked this track:

There's an article on her in today's NY Post. I've seen the ad and noticed the singer; I thought she sounded a lot like Stacey Kent, but determined it wasn't her. Now I know: Beverly Kenney: https://nypost.com/2021/12/16/tragic-life-of-singer-in-new-lincoln-aviator-ad-revealed/

I love GG's "Am I Blue." Think of it as having been released on Prestige's Moodsville label. But I agree that "JOS Plays Fats Waller" is a negligible date. Much too polite, which is funny considering Waller's oeuvre.

My son loves model trains. He was started in this habit by his uncle, who has loved them since being a child. My son has O, HO and N gauge, as well as Lego trains (the Lego trains have their own tracks, engines and remote). He currently focuses on N gauge. O gauge is great, but it's hard to find the area needed to set up a nice layout.
