  1. I have a japan import CD ("Verve Super Best 50" series, Universal POCJ-9240, 24Bit remastered, released in 2000), that I was lucky to find at a local store at a normal domestic price. Nice gatefold mini-LP cover. The sound is very good.

  7. Hartelijk gefeliciteerd, John I don't know how to do animations in Photoshop, so I got you this Dancing Singing Animated Birthday Cake Turn up the volume and watch the action (mpeg movie)
  8. It looks as if stocks are getting low. Most titles are now listed as "Temporarily out of stock", which in record shop language very often means definitively OOP Blue Note Collection @ Fresh Sound Records
  9. Thanks street singer for posting this site. The page is part of the broader Japan-based "Modern Jazz Discography" project, which has been started in 2001. Even if it contains errors, it is one of the best (probably the best) online resources for the Blue Note, Prestige, Riverside labels. http://www.tgs.gr.jp/jazz/ http://www.jazzdisco.org/

  11. On a related note: I met forum member Michel Devos from Brussels yesterday for lunch in Luxembourg. We came into contact because he was looking for an OOP Sonny Criss CD, that I had found here at a local store. We had already planned to meet two weeks earlier in Brussels, but I missed the appointment because I was blocked by protesting animal protectors As you can see from his profile, Michel is a classical music recording engineer and a jazz organ fan. He gave me some insights into the current studio technology, the art of recording a Hammond B3 organ and the changing classical music business. We also discussed about our music preferences and the best sources for rare CDs and vinyl in Brussels and online. Michel also recommended the Organissimo CD, which I will order when it's back in stock. Michel and I plan to meet again, as we both travel a lot between our cities.
  12. Seems that the CD is currently out of stock. Heavy Christmas business?
  13. "we're talking to Blue Note about bringing their archived threads to our bulletin board." This means that: - Blue Note has yet to agree - The messages will need to be integrated into the current AAJ board. This is much more difficult than it may seem at first sight, because the BNBB was based on a different forum software, and the database was in a great mess. It will take some high technical skill to do this automatically with the complete BNBB content, or they would have to limit themselves to manually copy/paste the most interesting threads into the AAJ board. It would be great to have these old topics back. But I don't think it will have an incidence on the current discussions, which are now more interesting here than on the AAJ board.
  14. In my limited experience with administrating message boards, this sort of errors was always due to a server overload, and not to a problem with the board software. It's not a big deal if it happens only a few times a day.

  16. Thanks DEEP for these interesting and well narrated stories. You should write an autobiography.
  17. With the two Blue Note cover books on the shelf, one can easily ignore the looks of CD booklets B)
  18. Jim, you've handled all those human problems on this board extremely well (and also the technical difficulties). The warning system was overly formalist, and logically people started to play with it. I'm glad this scary (even when at 0%) warning meter under the avatar is gone. Abusive members can be warned by personal message. But I hope this won't be necessary in the future

  22. This old trick still seems to work. For non-expert users the address looks indeed real. The Opera browser is therefore displaying a warning message whenever one clicks an address containing a username and @ in a link (see below). That should make the user aware that there is a problem with the address. Professional companies would also use the secure protocol (url starting with https:// ) for every internet transaction involving sensitive data. And of course they would never ask such a thing by email. An email is like a postcard, it can be read by every administrator on the many internet gateways it passes before arriving.
  23. The crime happened already a few years ago, but was discovered only in december last year (BBC Story). While the killer was in jail waiting for the trial he gave an interview to the german magazine Sterndescribing his fantasies about canibalism and details of the crime. The magazine got reprimanded for publishing this.
  24. The topic about Lee Morgan's murder is probably amongst those that have been lost in the AAJ crash
