  1. I'm starting to think I need to get the Jazz Crusaders box. It's already Running Low, and I think interest will increase with Wayne's passing.

Agreed. Haven't seen that shot before. I didn't think to compare it to the Mosaic. That doesn't have "Jazz Corner", either, since it's a studio-only set. Not true. The box contains: Big Beat Night in Tunisia Like Someone in Love Meet You at the Jazz Corner of the World, Vols. 1 & 2 Freedom Rider Roots & Herbs Witch Doctor Yeah, right - it DOES have "Meet You...". I guess I was thinking of some other set(s).
  3. I got the iPhone App and also the PC program, but am seriously thinking of getting a basic Paperwhite. Seems convenient and would be nice for reading on the couch or in bed. I don't need all the bells and whistles of the more expensive version or a full-on tablet, though.

Anybody know anything about this album? I just noticed it on eMusic. The label is ID'd as "Jazz Dynamics / The Orchard" There are 54 tracks on 5 "disks" for $6.49 (!!)
  6. I think it's great! Not muted at ALL.
  7. Andrew Hill Select (16) - disk 2
  8. Hi, Zan. You probably don't remember me, but see my post above. -Brooks
  9. Worst packaging design ... EVER!
  10. Andrew Hill Select (16) - disk 1
  11. Pekar WAS a great jazz fan, though! Something that didn't come out in his Letterman appearances. Harvey Pekar archives - Austin Chronicle
  12. I thought the artwork was cheesy, but I guess I should get a sheet anyway. The fact that Jimi is on a USPS stamp is reason enough!
  13. Just realized that I never watched the DVD from Vol. 2 ..... so I just watched it. Really great to have such a nice record of Miles' "Lost Quintet".
  14. I haven't heard this in years, but I remember getting it when it came out. I liked it at the time, but it didn't hold up for some reason - maybe a little sterile, which would explain a lot.
  15. Here's an interesting piece I found on Google http://www.soultracks.com/wayne-henderson-dies
  16. It was interesting to read in the liners how quickly the Miles Fillmore 2LP set was released after the performances. I had no idea. Also interesting how much the engineers learned about recording electric instruments from the "It's About that Time" dates, which were way too 'hot'. Very important regarding how clean the Fillmore East dates are.
  17. I've had CD3 on repeat play for 3 whole days and now into the 4th - a record for me. Outstanding, for sure. One big highlight for me has been Steve Grossman's work on tenor and soprano. Agreed Bob Me, too. Also Jack's drumming.
  18. Finally getting a chance to listen through this. OUTSTANDING!
  19. I don't think I saw the Letterman episode. Will have to track that one down.
  20. I'm thinking he was waiting for Leno to depart so that he could be the 'last one out the door'. He already has a MUCH longer tenure on late night TV than Jay. He also probably saw that his age is now much more obvious compared to all the other hosts currently on the air.
  21. I haven't ordered music from Amazon in a while and forgot that they automatically put digital versions into your Cloud Player. Was happy to see all 4 disks waiting for me on my computer yesterday - no need to burn!
